The Apocalypse Is Upon Us: Snow Fell in Los Angeles

It's been cold here in L.A., but i didn't know it was this cold!

Snow has fallen on the city of angels (sort of) for the first time since 1962.

Last Friday, I drove through a hail storm on my way to work. I was driving through...Pomona. Go figure.

We got snow in Santa Clarita for the first time in my 14 years of living here.

I was like a little kid this morning.

I have seen more snow this year in New Mexico than I think I ever saw in any year living in New England and Wisconsin.

And here in Lexington, it's gotten a bit colder than we were used to in Tallahassee - and we've seen a few snow flakes off and on - but really, this winter has been no big deal. Of course, my buddy told me it was near 80 this past weekend in Tally, so I guess they're getting the Florida version of a mild winter as well.

That may change on Sunday/Monday as we're supposed to get some snow and it might be somewhat "significant." I'm kinda hoping it is, just not "cut the power off" significant, of course.

Think about it, a nuke on Monday, and then snow yesterday. LA is getting the brunt of everything!

That's the problem with these apocalypses; they happen way too often.

Strange. I just flew in from LA this afternoon and I saw no snow the past two days.

Not only that, but man are my arms tired.

It's been in the high 20s/low 30s at nights and mornings here. To translate that to people on the east coast, that is like -400 degrees.

I've been in Fremont all week, my first trip to California, and do you think they include a windshield scraper with a rental car down here? Nope. Being Canadian, I'm obviously no stranger to snow and cold weather...but, C'MON!!!! This just isn't fair!!!!

This makes me wonder if the homes down there even have heaters? Kinda like most homes up north don't have AC.

I busted up one of the end tables in my hotel room and have been burning pieces of it at night to keep warm.

A lot of places in California don't have AC, either. We stayed at a nice hotel in Santa Barbara on our honeymoon that didn't have AC. It was cool enough every night that I guess they didn't feel the need. It being June/July and me living in Florida at the time, though, it seemed weird not to at least have the option. I generally prefer my air conditioned, not humid and straight off the ocean.

I hadn't either until a college chemistry professor made a comment one day about all air just being air, except for the kind that is conditioned before you gets to you.

that's even funnier

when exactly does air "get to you"? seems to me air conditioning merely changes the air that is already all over you.

I'm confused too. Air that goes through an air conditioner is filtered and cooled that's it. Unless I'm missing another secret process that those things do.
