Getting Started in FoF?

Caution: Ramblings of a nOOb!

I've been poking around here and the official site and I haven't found anything, so please forgive me if it's somewhere obvious. Is there a primer or a getting started guide or anything? I'm very interested in FoF, but it's a *BIT* overwhelming. Where the heck do I start?

Welcome to FOFC!

Typically, in FOF you start by creating the universe you want to be in. You pick a type of league (fictional, real stuff), chose your own team and then you've begun! (I'd recommend kicking off with the real life stuff and by running your favorite team (note that the teamnickname is slightly different, but there's an option where you can change the nicknames in the option screen). There is a help file in FOF (try hitting F1) that gives a description of the current screen you have open. Depending on the type of player you are (you'll have to figure that out yourself what that is), you'll be mostly looking at the roster screen or the almanac screen (stats, history stuff).

If you're still stuck, click on all the icons at the top right of the window, which will open all the required windows and use that F1 button a lot to learn about what you see! And on this site there's a lot to help you in the top thread of this forum.

I just bumped an old thread with a newbie guide for FOF2K4, and updated it for FOF2K7. I probably ought to sticky that puppy for a while. We're still getting a lot of brand-new-to-the-series people. Here's a link to the guide:

Gracias

Thanks, fellers - very useful information. I'll be picking up the game this week and becoming obsessed with it over the lull between the Championship Games and the Superbowl.

Possessed is a better way of describing what FOF 2k7 can do to you.
