Is the PS3 always this slow?
I'm playing Fight Night and I cannot BELIEVE how slow the game/system responds while sifting through the options while creating a boxer. The lag is unbearable. If it is like this on every game I'm returning this system this weekend. I'm trying to hold out because I'm anxious for MLB: The Show 07.

Sweed said he recommended that game and didn't report any issues. I've had 5 PS3 games and have had nothing like that occur. I'm sure Sweed will let you know if he's having similar issues. I'm a bad one to comment because I'm pretty much on a self-imposed EA boycott. Seems really odd that the menus would be laggy. |

Yeah, Fight Night does load slow when creating your boxer. Sorry I didn't mention it but then I only created the one fighter and it's been long enough that I didn't even think about it. The load times once your fighter is created are a little on the slow side, compared to all other ps3 games we have, but nothing like the "creation" mode.
The funny thing is the face generator in Tiger Woods (another EA title) is worlds ahead of what Fight Night has and doesn't have the slow load issue. When we first created faces in TW we wondered why EA didn't just put this face maker into all of their games. But like I said it was long enough ago that I didn't even think about it when replying to your post about games, again I apologize. To the original question, no the ps3 is not always this slow. All other games I've played load as fast as anything we play on our 360 or played on the ps2. |

Thanks Sweed. Although I must say, I considered the PS2 to load very slowly! I'm thinking of returning Fight Night, if Target lets me, for NCAA College Basketball (2k7...not the EA junk). Is that game out yet? Should I keep Fight Night instead? I've barely had a chance to play it with a busy week of work/grad school.

Per Gamespot, College Hoops has been pushed back to Feb 12th on the PS3. The 2006 version for the PS3 was also pushed back several times last year, so I'm not surprised that the first version on the PS3 is following the same pattern.

EA's March Madness is a weak game by all accounts. At least on the 360, 2k's College Hoops is a great game. It should be great on the PS3 too, I would imagine. |

I've got College Hoops for the 360 and NBA 2k7 for the ps3 both are great games IMHO. As EF27 said it should be great on the ps3 also. NBA 2k7 is the game I play the most on the ps3. I think Fight Night is worth keeping. Making your boxer is the sloooowww part and does get irritating. I've enjoyed the game though once my fighter was made, YMMV. And yes, I'd stay away from the EA basketball games whether nba or college. |
