Final 360 questions before purchase

I think I've decided to go with a 360 after much debate. The PS3 DVD player not upscaling DVD's made me decide it's just not worth the extra money at this point as I can always get a DVD player that will do that later on. Just too many DVD's to replace if I don't get an upscaling DVD player. I digress...some final questions to the floor...

1. Can I play my MP3 player through the 360?

2. How bad is the overheating problem in new models? Same question regarding noise. I've heard both are much less with newer models.

3. Are hard drives interchangable? If I were to actually fill up a 20gb HD can I just swap in another one? How likely would it be that I actually fill up a 20 gb HD?

4. How big of a problem is that rock they call an AC adapter in terms of fitting behind an entertainment center?

Now some questions about the "rumored" newer model...

1. Would HDMI be better than the current setup by a drastic amount or is it more that it's just in one cable?

2. If they make a bigger HD than the 20 GB one, will it be swappable like the current ones are. (if they in fact are)

3. What is the likelihood wifi would be built into this model?

Any other input on the 360 good or bad, I'll definitely listen to.

1. I'm not positive, but I think you can.

2. No idea. I've never seen a newer model in action.

3. Yes, hard drives can be swapped out. I still have about 9 GB of my current HD available and I have multiple demos on it. I also have dozens if not hundreds of game saves including multiple sports franchises. I do erase movies after I've watched them (since they are rentals anyway.)

4. I don't put it behind mine because I want it maximally ventilated, but it's not THAT big. It could fit if you leave at least a half a foot from the wall.

Rumored questions:

1. You'll see quite a bit debate about whether HDMI looks better than component or not. All I know is that I've seen some great looking HD movies via my 360 with component cables.

2. The current ones are swappable, and there is no reason that to think future models of the HD won't be swappable.

3. No idea. It would make sense, but I'm not sure if Microsoft will decide it makes enough financial sense.

1. Yes you can play MP3s. In fact if you download the Zune software you can play MP3s over a computer network that are on your computer.

2. I got mine about 2 weeks ago and I've never had a overheating option yet, but I still did buy an Intercooler a week or so ago, just to protect it. Plus my system isn't loud at all.

3. Yes.

4. I wouldn't put it being an entertainment center, I'd try to put it to the side if I was you, so it could air out.

I am going to piggyback on this thread to ask some questions as well.

I got my xbox 360 like 2 weeks ago also. Mainly because I missed the days in college when all of the people would come to one room and play super techmo bowl together or whatever. So right now I have 1 or 2 games for the kids, madden 2007 for me and getting college hoops 2k7 for the primary purpose of trying to find folks from fofc to play online with (or one or two real life friends that also are into football or sports games).

I only play my xbox maybe 1 or 2 days a week tops for 2 hours or so tops at a time. Do I need to spend money on an intercooler and worry about it being in the entertainment center also, or no?

Alan, I would recommend it. If it was more expensive, I would say maybe. But $15 could go along way to prevent frustration if the system shuts down.

No. Just make sure it has ventalation. I lay mine down and give it plenty of room to breathe.
