Ping: Nascar fans
I have been thinking of starting a nascar fantasy league. I saw RenderR started one on ?espn? i think. I was thinking of starting on and running it myself more in the vain of a traditional league where there was draft and each person had 4 unique drivers in their stable.
I was thinking of using a scoring system where the race winner got 43 points, second 42 etc... plus 5 bonus points for winning the race. I would keep track of the scoring on a spreadsheet and update weekly. We could do a timed draft here on the board in a snake format with the draft order determined by random.org. I figure 10 people max but we could go with 8 or nine. If we get enough people the scoring system is up for discussion as well as any other rules/ suggestions. I would ask for one person to volunteer to help me with the scoring if I am not able to be around for some reason. Sign up here if interested. I figure we will need 4-5 days for a draft. 1. Lathum 2. Oilers 9911 3. Gold 101 4. MollyMurphy 5. CUTIGER 6. BillyNYC 7. RenderR 8. Path12 9. 10. Last edited by Lathum : 02-11-2007 at 11:38 PM. |

Lathum,
Are you planning to use a website like ESPN to do the scoring etc or are you going to do it all manually? |

manually and post the weekly standings here, I couldn't find a site that had a draft format, most give a pool a, b, c and you select drivers from the pool. To me a fantasy league is more fun when you have a draft. |

You should score the points that the driver actually gets in the race. Then perhaps give bonus points for wins/top 5/top 10 and perhaps pole positions.
That way there is actually less math for you to do as the points each driver scores are posted on nascar dot com every monday afternoon. just a thought. |

room for 2 more. I would like to begin the draft later today if possible using 3 hour cycles so we can ensure we are done with enough time. I'll post full details later today.

OK, looks like we are going to go with 8 players. We'll start the draft at 9:00 AM EST tomorrow morning. Everyone has 3 hours to make their pick but isn't required to use all 3 hours. The last deadline each night will be 9:00 PM EST. If you are next in line or are unable to make your pick you can PM me your choice and I'll pick for you. IF you are picking later in the day and want to PM me a list of 3-5 drivers in the order you want them I'll make the pick for you. This will facilitate the draft and speed it up.
If it is coming close to being your turn to pick and I haven't seen you around I'll PM you as a reminder. I would rather no one get screwed. If your time has run out I will select the driver who finished highest in the point standings last year from the remaining drivers. The draft order will snake so if you have the first pick in the first round you will have the last pick in the second round. Trades will be allowed as long as the competitive balance isn't affected. You may also pick up free agents and drop drivers. You may begin free agent pick ups starting Monday morning thru Thursday. The person in last place point wise is awarded the free agent if there is more then one claim. I've asked a third party to determine the draft order. Once I receive it I will post it and the draft can begin!! IF you guys/girls wanna start your picks tonight that is fine but no one will be penalized if it is there turn. |

dola- 2 more things I forgot to mention earlier. If your driver gets the pole you get 3 bonus points. IF your driver doesn't race you get the points for whoever does drive their car.

I heard on another thread that Lathum has lost power in the midwest storms so this may be on hold for a little bit. I think we can just keep posting draft picks in the meantime though.

Jesus Christ. The season hasn't even started yet and i'm in last place by 50 points because of Matt Kenseth's cheating crew chief.

I'll take Harvick.
During the week, I only check at night. Should I make a list of 5, or would tomorrow night be OK enough? |

Hook me up with Ricky Rudd
He's got the most experience of anyone that makes the field and he's hooked up with yates Racing. Starting the 500 from the outside pole can't hurt anything either =) |
