xbox360 games

Now that the debate is over...what game(s) should I pick up?

I'm a big sports fan and am not too big into the whole alien/zombies, etc. WWII games or the Clancy games look interesting. Any selections that folks would recommend?

A search would help.

My favorites:

NHL 07
Gears of War
Oblivion
College Hoops 2k7

MLB 2k7 will be out next month and I'm crossing my fingers it's at least fun to play.

Yea...I'm at my in-laws right now. Her grandma is in pretty bad shape so I dont have a ton of time to do searches like I would like to. I know that Gears of War and Oblvivion everyone seems to love but I'm not sure what the games are actually about.

I'll definitely get the baseball game.

Rainbow Six: Las Vegas is the best game I've played. CH 2k7 is very good as well.

Call of Duty 3 - FPS war game
Gears of War - FPS futuristic war game
Obilivion - best FP quest, medival type game I've ever played.

All of these are FP (or first person) type games, and all 3 do what they set out to do quite well.

I've also heard F.E.A.R is quite good.

College Hoops 2k7 - Great Basketball game.

NBA2k7 - Also a great game. However, it gets less PT from me since College Hoops came out.

Gears of War - I'm not usually a fan of FPS games, but I finally played this some the other day, and I'm very impressed.

Dead Rising - I know you said, you don't like zombies, but it's a really fun game.

Burnout Revenge - Great fun if you like driving games at all.

Oblivion - Great RPG. Only reason I don't have it for the 360 is I have it for the PC.

Like Todd, I'm crossing my fingers that MLB 2k7 turns out to be a good game.

Thanks for the input guys...tough call. Right now I think I'm leaning toward the Vegas Clancy or Call of Duty 3 along with Tiger Woods (just a big golf guy) and then waiting for baseball.

Tiger is a fun game...when I rented it a few weeks ago my roommates and I played it non-stop. I think we liked it so much that I figured there was no way I could buy it since we'd waste too much time and not be able to use the TV for anything else.

When I was in college, we played NHL '95 on Sega Genesis. I really do think my Sega and the guy across the hall had our systems on non-stop. I distinctly remember waking up one night at about 3:30 am, after both my roommate and I had gone to sleep, to the sound of two guys down the hall in our room playing the damn thing.

I never did get to get the system yesterday because of my wife's grandma being in such bad shape. Of course, in classic fashion, many of the deals Circuit City had on accessories (I would have saved $60) are gone. Might end up waiting to get those deals or better ones back now.

I would have sold you Tiger Woods for $25 as I only received $17 in trade at Gamestop. I just can't get into TW as a golf game anymore.. I wish Links was still pumping out games.

My next purchase will hopefully be MLB 2k7. The visuals are absolutely stunning.. hopefully the game play will be just as good.

The demo I have played is pretty cool.

Also, if you haven't given Table Tennis a chance, the game is pretty damn fun.

If you were to have to choose 2 of the three (Call of Duty 3, Vegas, and Gears of War) I'd choose CoD3 and Vegas. I've only played Gears for about an hour and was getting frustrated with the single player.

Nothing beats the 94 and 95 versions of NHL on Sega Genesis, that's how I learned about all the players in the NHL. I wish games were this FUN and less about all the crap you can do, nowadays...

NHL 07 for the 360 is my sports game of the year last year on a console. I still play it about every other day and I'm fighting for a playoff spot with the Blues. The shot stick is the most genius invention I've ever seen in a game before.

It's truly a great game..

Games I have:

Gears of War - Bought it recently, finished the single player mode (which is great), and have dabbled in online play a little recently. Very good game overall, but the multi-player 4-on-4 mode leaves a little to be desired IMO. Co-op is good fun though.

NBA 2K7 - Not just the best NBA game produced, but probably one of the best sports titles.

Oblivion - Awesome. Still haven't finished it, but it's a lot of fun and very deep too, though you can ignore a lot of things and just play it straight-through.

Burnout Revenge - LOTS of fun in multiplayer. Bit of an oldish title, but still a lot of fun online... I play it online more than any other game I've got.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfare - Very fun single player title, quite similar to rainbow six. I've tried to play it online, but there aren't many other players online.

Project Gotham Racing 3 - Got it very cheap 2nd hand, and haven't played it much. Apparently it's the best racer on the console, but I also haven't played any others.

I really enjoyed Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Good game, great mix of characters. Took me almost 2 months to beat. Only get to play a few hours a week but it lasted a good amount of time.

Finished Ninety Nine Nights today. I enjoyed the game, although I would have been a little upset if I had paid full price for it because it was kind of short, IMO.

My top 5, in no particular order:

Oblivion
Lego Star Wars II
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
Tomb Raider: Legend
Gears of War

If you want to drag Xbox Live Arcade into it, give Heavy Weapon and Cloning Clyde a whirl.

Is that because you are in Australia? Could be timezone differences, or maybe bad connections to servers in other parts of the world (although I seem to end up with decent connections to many of the UK servers that are up during the day). It's one of the top-5 played Live games, so if you aren't finding anyone something is going on.

GRAW2 is out next month...

Back on to the original topic, I think "Just Cause" is one of the more underrated 360 titles. You have Antonio Banderas (yes, they got his voice) playing a CIA agent on assignment in a Carribean island nation. The game is full of James Bond style stunts, lots of cool vehicles to drive and fly and boat, and a huge area to explore.
