McAffee Broke My Firefox -- Help!!

Ok McAffee decided it wanted to update itself with a "major update" tonight and installed a whole new security center and stuff apparently. When I try to open a new tab, the old tab gets hidden (or something) and I can't switch between tabs, close tabs, or anything else. I can select different tabs using a weird button on the side of the toolbar, but all the tabs are not functioning properly. Anyone else have something like this happen with Firefox + McAffee? Or might anybody have suggestions that don't include removing McAffee completely?
I tried rebooting..

If Peyton Manning were Firefox, Tom Brady would be just another qb from Michigan.

Yes, I recall reading that earlier.

What is the size of the "default" tab in Firefox? Mine is set at 100 or 140 (without or with close tab) but maybe that's too small..

My guess is you need to buy a new computer.

Well I tried uninstalling McAfee Security Center and not only is it still on my computer, it would appear that it changed some setting on my Firefox. It's like all the tabs are opening one on top of the other so I can't click to them to find anything useful. And they all say "Loading..." at the top instead of saying what they're showing (which except for this one should all say Google).

I did Google the problem, but most people seem to have problems with Firefox hanging, not with it just behaving very very badly.

McAfee can go to heck, along with the weather.

Dammit I uninstalled McAfee completely, rebooted.
Still no fix.
Restart Firefox in safe mode, restored all default settings.
STILL no fix.
What is the point of tabbed browsing if it doesn't work? THIS IS SO NOT MY DAY.

Hey tk, did you try to use System Restore to go back to an earlier date.

Out of curiousity, what would you recommend instead of McAfee? Not that I'm really a fan of it, just happens to be what I had.

Use this and it's free (if you are not using it for commercial purposes of course):

AVG and Avast are both pretty good, and free.

And it's things like this that have me siding with Microsoft in the Vista VirusScanner wars. These guys love to crack open the system and mess with it and are unhappy that Microsoft wants to stop them from doing it (and of course Microsoft working hard to close these loopholes helps reduce the need for the VirusScanners in the first place; if the VirusScanners can crack open the system, what stops the Virus from doing so?)

Thanks for all the tips and suggestions, everybody. I finally think I have it working again but I had to uninstall McAfee completely (which took 3 tries, as it had stuff hidden in places), then removed all my Firefox extensions, then uninstalled Firefox, then got the new version, reinstalled the extensions one by one, and voila, it works.

I'll be looking into Avast and AVG tonight. I had heard somewhere (I don't know the veracity of the statement) that AVG had gone to a pay system, guess I'll find out.

Anyway. Thanks again!

You can buy a business version of AVG but they offer their home version for free.
