Just my thoughts. I despise him to the point where I felt it needed it's own thread.

Is is because he was a Cowboy or his personality on TV that you have a thread orgasm over his dismissal?

Because he ruins what is otherwise a fine football pregame crew. Now if they can ditch Ditka, it will be perfect.

I have no problem with Aikman as an announcer/TV Personality. It was Irvin's personality on TV that makes this very good news.

Im a die hard Cowboys fan, and thankful for what he contributed on the field, but I AM GLAD TO SEE HIM GO.

I can' help but wonder if the Tony Romo comments factored into this decision at all.

I think this statement does more to damn the state of TV than it does it to prop up Irvin.

Good news, but I am sure he will still get freelance work to interview Terrell Owens.

I don't disagree with SD a lot, but on this I'm opposite him 100%. Irvin is a horrible announcer. I also like Aikman as an announcer. I have no issues with Jimmie Johnson or Moose Johnson. I simply hate Irvin the announcer.

I think he destroys a solid pregame show all by himself. He was the solitary reason I didn't watch ESPN's pregame show this year. No matter what else happens, this is a terrific offseason.

See, there's a fine line between wanting to be entertained on a pregame show and wanting solid information/analysis. I can understand the need for networks to make primetime games entertaining to draw an audience, but I see no reason why, for example, ESPN would need to prop up an 11am pregame show with "entertaining" buffoons. They should just take the weekly NFL show that Jaworski does and give that crew the 11am pregame time. I want Xs and Os - I don't want buffoons like Terry Bradshaw and Michael Irvin hamming it up during pregame analysis time. They are entertaining enough - and interesting and are great at what they do - to overcome the need for the Michael Irvin's of the world.

This is why I no longer watch pregame shows. Well that, and it's hard enough convincing my wife I should spend 11 hours watching football for 4 months.

I am hoping you mean watching him train wreck every week was entertaining because if so I agree. If you meant he was actually good then....ugh.

You guys do realize that SD is thoroughly entertained by trash talkers, smash mouthers and showboaters, on field and off field? Always have been, from White Shoes to Deion to Irving to TO.

Deion Sanders actually is/was entertaining. There are probably 100 ex-NFL players that could do Irving's schtick better than he did.
