Amazing Race 11: All Stars

First season is tonight...should be pretty interesting. I'm really only familiar with the more recent teams since I only started watching in season 7. Hopefully it's a pretty good one.

Rob and Amber just seem smarter than everyone else. Miami boys seem competitive, too. Good first episode...

I haven't watched this since the family edition. I might have to check this season out. Weren't Rob and Amber supposed to be doing a reality show where Rob tried his hand at being a professional poker player?

Yes, they did a reality show together on the Fox Reality Channel. The first season ended last week and the final episode shows them being invited to participate on Amazing Race: All Stars. They spent part of the episode showing them having a hard time deciding whether to participate and coming up with strategy. Part of the plan was to race with little or no bags.

He did a good job as a poker player and they decided on the last episode to buy a house in Vegas after they got back from All Stars. I imagine that they will have a second season of their show after the Amazing Race.

They are the first couple of reality television, are a perfect couple, and seem to be doing well. I'm finding myself rooting for them this season on Amazing Race.

Unlike past seasons, I have several favorites this time to root for. One of the teams I hated was booted tonight.

I'm rooting for the original clowns, Kevin and Drew but Drew was slowing them down and they were lucky to survive. It only took 1 episode to remind me as to why I hate Mirna and Schmirna. May Team Kentucky eliminate Rob and Amber.

I'm glad that I am not the only one. Can't stand that Ian guy either, forgot about him until he opened his mouth the first time.

I don't mind Rob and Amber though. They are attention whores but I like them as a team. They seem to have a plan and stay focussed as they go and don't seem to have the drama that all other teams go through.

This could be an interesting season to watch.

I would have liked to see Colin and Christy, the second set of clowns and maybe the wrestlers or Jonathan and whatever his wife's name was (the last two just for the drama).

I've only watched one season of Amazing Race - the one with Rob and Amber. I'll be watching this one and rooting for them again.

As someone else said, it is pretty obvious that they are just smarter than at least most of these people.

I appreciate Rob and Amber's competitiveness, and it does look like they're working on an entirely different level than the rest of the people on the show. Still, I could do without the one-on-one interview with Amber where they wax poetic on their own self-importance.

My wife and I are probably going to root for the two blondes, who don't seem to be bad people at all, yet everyone seems to hate them. Case in point, when Kentucky lied to them about the Copa vs. American flight last night it was no big deal. However, had the blondes done that to anyone, I'm sure the UN would have had to step in with peace-keeping troops because the blondes are "horrible people who will do anything to win."

Even though they're the only previous winners, I'm rooting for Uchenna and Joyce. They won me over when Joyce shaved her head in the season they won. I'm also rooting for Dustin and Kandice (Beauty Queens) and Kevin and Drew.

I hope that the Hillbillies (Kentucky) and Charla and Mirna get booted next. Rosie O'Donnell already gave the Hillbillies a new house and a dental plan for their kids, so they don't need to win...not only that, but they have little race skills other than the occassional dose of luck.

this is where I disagree. It's not like they were banging down CBS' door to be on the race. If people are going to continue to aproach them with oppritunities why not take advantage of them?

Or you could change the channel.

Unless they actually broke into your house and are sitting *on* your television, then your lunatic rantings about them being on your television set would actually make sense.

The fact they have on the older couple again makes the show. Damn near peed myself when the old guy is yelling at his wife "Hump it! Hump it!" on one of the seasons. Guy berated that poor woman the whole trip. She's like 70 going up this steep hill and the guy is yelling at her.

A lot of likeable and hateable teams on. They did a nice job selecting who they did. Rob and Amber are just on another level with the Amazing Race. They got hosed the first time around, so I hope they win it this time.

Yeah. Looking at the website last week, I didn't know who they were. Now it's all coming back. He had some good stuff yelling at her the season that they were on. I also like his attitude.

Agreed. They look like a couple that is having a lot of fun living life to the fullest at CBS' expense while building up quite a nest egg and college funds for the eventual kids. They're getting everything they can from CBS before it is time to officially settle down.

And they are fierce competitors, but can also generally separate competition from personal. I loved Rob's "There, I did something nice, and it KILLED me to do it" bit.

I think Rob and Amber have already won. Eliminated their biggest and almost only physical threat in week 1. I'm a fan of their competitiveness and game play but not their usually smug attitude. I about fell over when Rob did something nice for another team in the episode.

I really wish there was a better way to handle this. If there is someone out there that is so dominating in this game, let them be able to use it. If they show up somewhere two hours before everyone else, they shouldn't have to wait until the next morning to keep moving; just so everyone can catch up and be even again.

Make the game harder in some way or another and allow it for someone to be a full day ahead of someone and still have a chance to screw it up. It might not make for good TV, but man, allowing everyone to catch up every single episode sucks.

This is the reason I don't watch. Using Rob and Amber several seasons ago was a good chance to draw in fans of Survivor - it did for me. I enjoy the characters that are Rob and Amber, I'm not a big fan of the game that is Amazing Race. There is far too much leveling that goes on for me to really get into the show itself.

So, no comments yet that the speculation from 2 seasons ago that, based on the "Methinks they doth protest too much" theory, the frat boys were actually homosexual turns out to have been wrong? That not only are the hetero, they did manage to land the hot chicks?

Good first episode. There are definately a few teams that I hate and I few teams that I want to do well.

Most notably, I want Rob and Amber, Uchenna and Joyce and the Beauty Queens to all go far.

Well, that sucked but Drew was dying out there and they were stupid to keep driving 40 km/h. Nice to see Team Cha-cha-cha is giving Romber some competition. Mirna and Schmirna are killing me.

Mirna and Schmirna and Team Redneck became my two favorite teams to hate. Team Redneck with their OMFG, they passed us! They're trying to race us!!! How dare they?!?!?!!!??one/!?

Team Mirna and Schmirna with their pettiness of stopping only to be last. Wasn't Schmirna in her baby seat?

Go Beauty Queens!!!!

The Mirna/Schmirna "Holier than Thou" thing is what makes me hate them... They did it with the pulling over, they did it with saying "Oh, Dave and Mary are gonna pass us, so that's how it is?!" when they had just passed Dave and Mary, and it looks like they go nutso on the older couple in the next episode.

That being said - what fun is a show like this without villains?

Still love Rob and Amber. I still think they're just playing on another level from everyone else on this show.

I agree Rob and Amber are playing so far above the other teams. The funny part last night was when Amber stood up to Rob and then got slapped down in the post-interview.

The Roadblock last night was good, but the follow-up was lame. Any advantage gained in doing it quickly was negated by the fact that they had to fly to the next task. All the teams bunched up together.

This is what the show is about to me. And like I've said elsewhere in this thread, why I have only watched the show when Rob and Amber are on. I think this is a very poorly designed show and I don't like that at all.

And I loved the fact that despite getting screwed, those two teams jumped ahead of everyone and came in 1-2 again. I agree that these are the teams to beat, barring something unlucky like a car breakdown.

The teams in the back right now definitely deserve to be there.

No, that was before the Roadblock. After the Roadblock, everyone was on the same flight.
