pre-season

During the pre-season, does the AI follow the percentages you put in the starter's time section, or does it know to play everyone on the depth chart?

it goes by %, but starters will play a lot less than in regular season games.

huh ?

Does it go by the % you put in, or not ?

I've always assumed that if you want your starters to play less in the pre-season - that you set your %s accordingly. Personally, I've always made the best players (who are fully matured) inactive, and given "regular season" starting time to young players, who need reps, during the pre-season. I've noticed the box and logs seem to match my settings.

As far as I can tell, if you use the same % settings for pre-season and the regular season, you will see pretty much the same playing time figures for your players.

It goes by %, but the % do not have the same value depending on what type of game it is.

For one thing, the #3 RB seems to get a lot of carries.

On the Playing Time screen, do a "suggest". It defaults to around 50% for starters in preseason, and then much higher during the regular season.

I think its using the percentages entered as a base, and then modifying. I usually set everything to the 50% that it reccommends, but I still notice trends similar to the NFL: "Starters" get very little time in game 1, more in game 2, more in game 3, and then back down in game 4.
