Boxing Question...

For those of you out there who might box, i have a question....I box, not organized or proffesional or anything, just me and my friends, even kids who arent friends, but anyway....I have been having trouble with my wrists lately. Must be too much whacking off, who knows. My question is this, how tight should i wrap the wrist guards? I know its a stupid one, but i have been wrapping them real tight lately to almost eliminate the whole idea of a wrist, turning it into an extended arm. But after a few minutes, i get a bad pain in my arms. But when i wrap them to loose i just bend them. So i guess my real question is, is it safe to keep them wrapped that tight? because it seems to me its the only solution. I know it seems stupid, and probably nobody has any clue what im talking about, but i cant figure this one out.

As long as your wrist is straight when you tape it, it should be fine. It's been a long time since I boxed (a LONG time), but my trainer taped my wrists and hands pretty tight.

But if you are having pain in your wrists when you box, I'd stop boxing for a while and see if it goes away.

i used to be a pro boxer and my advise is to get an xray you could have stress factures, do you have a real boxing training around or are you just goofing around? not sure about the gym you go to but usually getting into organized amatuer boxing is made as easy as possible and you will get set up right

Your hands are supposed to be wrapped tightly, but your wrists should have som flexibility. You could have an injury, but I'm wondering if you're swinging too wide - that puts a lot of stress on your wrists and forearms. Or perhaps your gloves are too light or heavy for your size. Really heavy gloves can just make your hands feel dead and require the wrists to support the weight.
