Global What Now?

It's -16 outside casa vtbub this morning on the 7th of March.

We don't see that in December, let alone now.

(casa vtbub is in Burlington, VT)

It is a balmy 85 degrees inside Al Gore's house though.

It's been dropping down to the low 40's in Louisiana the last few nights and that is later than any year I can remember in my 7 years down here.

At least you got a winter. Here in the Netherlands, we've had about one day all winter that closely resembled a winter day. The 4 inches of snow didn't even survive the cloudy dark afternoon. Kids these days don't even know that our speed skating world domination tradition is based on real ice, not that artificial stuff you can find at indoors facilities.

We had 65 one day in January, then the mini el nino went away and the back half of this winter has come straight from my childhood. Cold and snowy.

We got 26" out of the Valentines storm, second highest recorded dump in Burlington. (X-mas 69 saw 29)

Truly bizarre.

Well this -16 you're seeing is predicted by the University of Northwest South Rhode Island Department of Climate's forecast model #15, which isn't used ever, but it does predict this as part of global warming. So we shouldn't be alarmed that this is happening as the world warms up.

As long as the jet stream hangs lower than Lindsey Lohans shirts, it will be unseasonably cold, no matter what that is.

It hit -18 wind chills here in sunny Buffalo yesterday. Its supposed to warm up nicely through next week, but who knows.

We got nothing here until the end of January, it was in the 60's till then, since February though its been one frozen cold snowy day after the next.

I'm ready for spring =)

yup and yup, a truly bizarre winter. As RendeR said, nothing until mid January up here either. We spent Christmas with the decorations firmly planted in the grassy front yard, a feat that I'd never seen in my life. Then the cold started but there was still not much snow. Now, when I look at our front yard I see as much snow as any other winter, except I've had to snow blow the driveway on maybe three occasions instead of doing it every couple of days for a month. And yeah, here too it's pretty damn cold. Just as for Buffalo, it's supposed to warmup, enough so that rain is expected at the start of next week...

I picked a wonderful week to work in New Hampshire. The only time it's stopped raining is when it's snowing. Now we're looking at half a foot or so today/tonight.

At least I'm going back home for Easter.

Yeah, we're going to be in the 40s/20s for the next few days. Sucks because we've had 70s and 80s here for a couple of weeks and everything is blooming. Now it's all going to get slaughtered. I don't recall these kinds of cold fronts in Florida in April.

We just had one of our rare ice storms. Everything is covered with about 1/4" of ice and it likely will stay cold very a little longer.

We got snow in Lexington yesterday afternoon. Freaked me out. It must have caught everyone by surprise, because the weather forecast had no mention of it, and they love to bring up even the slightest chance of it.

36 in Ashburn. Actually just turned on my heat again, as I'd had everything shut off for about 2 weeks, but it's too cold without the heat.

I was without the wife and kids this week (they're coming home tonight), and on Wednesday night, I didn't think about the cold and went to sleep without turning the heat on. When I woke up the next morning, it was 56 in the house. THAT's why I got married, because I just don't think of things like that!

Yeha, but someone's got to program it. On Tuesday, it was 83. On Wednesday night, it was 28, and then it snowed yesterday. We had the air on last weekend. Ordinarily, it would have been set and when it fell below, it would have gone on. But the AC was still set!

Sheesh. It's in the high 30's here right now, raining hard, and it sounds (and feels as I stepped outside for a second) like the rain is slightly mixed with freezing rain. Craziness.
