Ping: Console owners -- did you buy Madden 2007?

I am proud to report as the former FOFC EA Whore, that I have still not bought Madden 2007 in any of its formats. I believe I have bought every previous iteration since I got a PS1 way back when. Who else was able to just say no to EA this year?

I may be picking it up once the price drops down to the $30, but not before.

Purchased for X-box, but traded it in after getting me an X-box 360.

I purchased it for the 360 and it completely disappointed me. I will NOT buy it again this year unless it somehow gets glowing reviews from multiple people on here.

I received as a gift for the 360.

I have always played the Maddens because of having fun playing through the franchise mode. Even though the 07 version does actually play better, the lack of features in the franchise mode renders the game almost useless. There are some cool new features, but I haven't even made it to an offseason because its just boring.

Now, I wish I would have returned it when I had the chance.

The only Maddens I have are 2005 on PC (gift from a friend who also got it as a gift and didn't want it at all) and 2003 (wife picked it up at game xchange for like $3 or something). I'm not sure I've ever made it through a complete game of it.

I bought a few NCAA Footballs but not a full-price one since 03. I also have 06 but I got it really cheaply (wife picked it up at game xchange for like $5 or $10 I think at same time she got that Madden). I just don't like EA Sports games anymore.

i didn't, but i stole my friends copy. i hate this game, and he doesn't miss it. i would like, just once, if ea would focus on the ai abuse issues and not some new fangled feature that caters to the thumb jockeys.

the players act the same as they did in madden 99, and that's awful.

Substitute the 360 for PS2 and you have my situation exactly.

I'm not sure I can enjoy a Madden game until they improve the finances for the owner. I always felt you could jsut pay top dollar for the best coaches and could bring in most of the top talent. This would make you a ton of money at the gates and after a few seasons you were over $100M in the bank.

I got the Xbox version in August, just after it came out. Recently, I bought the PSP version, too.

I've weaned myself off Madden & EA Sports in general, hard at first, and I'm tempted every year to look at madden at least...

However FOFC saves the day - all I have do is read the 1st Impressions thread, and see the inevitable path of the thread -
1. excitement and wariness in equal measure
2. enthusiasm on first buying playing
3. realisation of unrealistic stats/trends
4. tweaking of sliders
5. tweaking of sliders
6. tweaking of sliders
7. tweaking of sliders
8-132. tweaking of sliders
133 - silence

Whether it's age, change in lifestyle/circumstances, but FM is going the same way for me now - I've barely played any of the FMs as there has always been at least one thing that has ruined the game for me, destroyed the illusion of reality.

But in the same manner as Madden, I have bought a number of games before I've realised what I'm doing FM2008 will be different - I will not be suckered in...

Though just crossed my mind - is it beacuse of the annual cycle? Is a year time enough to either get full value out of a sports sim (especially when it is not 'fully' patched for 6 months, or for the developers to add enough new features for the game to be significantly different?

I bought it used, and then returned it after 2 days (360). It's a steaming POS with the crappiest menu driven system I've ever run into.

The past two years I've bought two versions of Madden. In 2005 I bought it for the Xbox and Xbox 360. This year I bought it for the Xbox 360 and PSP.

Just a question to the Madden'ers who play FOF: Which is worse? A graphical bug in Madden or a statistical bug in FOF? To me, they're equal.

Does Madden 07 have online league play?

I notice that MLB 07 is now advertising online league play as a feature.

ok, i take that back, it does make sense, and you're right. for someone who constantly has superior tactics blown up by someone who is just better at pressing buttons, or someone who found the two best plays to run over and over, online play just gets old and frustrating.

a typical series for me (defensively) involves the other guy sprinting backwards 15 yards with his qb, launching balls to the same deep reciever, maybe i get a sack, then on 4th and 17, completing a 25 yard pass. over and over. no thanks.

Didn't get it for a console, but I did buy it for the PC (was on sale). I tried several times to get into it, but I just couldn't. I do think the Superstar mode would be a huge saelling point if they actually tried to make it work. I did have some fun with that, but not only did the very dumb play calling ruin it for me, the on-field AI was terrible too. Not even close to the regular game at all. Not to mention a bunch of other, small problems.

Oh well...here's hoping one day they'll get it right.

I should add I'm considering picking up the PC version (which is currently $20) if only to make screenshots for WOOF...
