HBO Shows in Development?
I read in the 300 thread something about a show named Preacher in development. I heard a show being pitched regarding an NBA Expansion Team as well as Mike Epps having a show.
I can't find any good info on shows in development so does anyone have any insight they can provide? |

Another series
It didn't list another series coming up for HBO, a Vampire series starring Anna Paquin called "True Blood", being produced by Alan Ball of Six Feet Under:

I never would've guessed it 2 months ago, but I am looking forward to A Song of Fire and Ice far more than True Blood. I was a huge Six Feet Under fan, so I was really hyped about True Blood, but I read a couple of books in Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire series that the show will be based on. They are essentially vampire romance novels, and I don't have a vagina so I was left cold. I'm still curious to see what Ball will do with it, but...
I started reading George R.R. Martin's Song of Fire and Ice series a couple weeks ago, and I was really blown away by the first book. I'm into the second now, and I can't wait for the show. Last edited by timmynausea : 03-11-2007 at 12:45 AM. |

Ugh. Mike Epps' stand-up act is horrible. He's basically Chris Rock for the brainless:
"Mothafucka! Nigga! Mothafuckin' NIGGA! Bitch ain't even suckin it right, NIGGA!" And that's without even the slightest whisper of irony. Please don't give him a show, HBO!

Just read the other day that HBO has greenlit a miniseries based off of the book Generation Kill, detailing a marine recon unit in the Iraqi War. I haven't personally read the book, but I hear good things, and I did read One Bullet Away by Nathaniel Fick who I hear is one of the people followed in the book as well.
David Simon and Ed Burns from The Wire are on board to write and exec-produce. Should be a great one, very anxious to see it. I'm ready for a modern day Band of Brothers. ![]() |

I've read the Preacher comic book which I believe is what the tv show is based off of. Should be a very good series if this is true.

It should be, but given the outcry from the religious folks about movies like the "Da Vinci Code" and that short-lived TV show starring Aiden Quinn as the drunk priest who talked to Jesus, these people will storm HBO's gate if HBO stays faithful to the comics. I mean, you have the descedent of Christ as a mentally retarded, inbred, poop-throwing moron, not to mention the very, very unflattering portrayal of God, Himself, as a cowardly, vindicitive, manipulative diety. That's just some of what goes on...
