Due to past injustices, Lance Briggs refuses to sign with Da Bears

Wow, and they only franchised him ONCE!

BTW, I know this isn't about FOF2007 precisely, but I think it is related, for all the people complaining about how their franchise players won't re-sign with them.

In my most recent game they franchised him five straight times. He then held out and signed a multi-year contract in week 10.

He re-signed with a team that franchised him 5 times??? That's amazing, I've never gotten a guy to resign with me after franchising twice, and most refuse after once.

My current QB has been franchised for the last 7 years in a row, and we're paying him $99 million this year... but he's going to break the all-time record for TDs this season, and he's likely going to retire with the all-time QB rating record, 103 right now. He has 0 loyalty every year when we franchise him, but during the course of the season he builds up 1-5 loyalty back, not enough to change his mind about a contract through.

The top salary for QB's in my league is $55 million, the average of the top 5 is $23 million, and he's getting $99 million. I guess it's not in his interest to sign a contract...

I know! I was watching him because I wanted to sign him myself... I'll post a screen shot of it later...

I had a WR (Roy Williams) that I kept franchising until he pulled the hold out until week 11 crap. His replacement was having a breakout season and when he showed up he was a $14 mil backup & kick returner. The passing game also fell apart, so I think he had a negative affect on chemistry.

Oh, it wasn't on your team. I've seen fishy behavior like that with CPU teams before, they seem to be able to re-sign players after franchising them multiple times. I've never had a player offer to re-sign with me after a second year of the franchise tag.

Oh, and to the other comment, yes $99 million for one season, in the year 2048. He started out at about $23 million, and it's been about 6-7 years I think, of 120% increases. I just can't bring myself to let him go, he's been with me for 13 seasons now and he's about to break the all-time TD record. He's the greatest QB the league has ever seen, and he's taken us to the Super Bowl 6 times, winning 3 of them (2 trips in the last two seasons). I keep thinking I'll let him go to the market next season, and then we get back to the big game and I can't let him go after reaching the Super Bowl...

Cap is about $370 million right now if I recall properly, so he's taking up about a third...

Here's Briggs (retired, but you can see how many franchises...)

Yeah... I've never had a player I franchised more than once sign a multi year contract with me either. I was happy to see that Williams held out looking for that big paday the next year and signed for the veteran minimum. His skills declined rapidly too!

I was under the impression that you can only franchise someone twice? Am I mistaken? Is that the truth in real life but not in FOF?

In real life, the 3rd franchise number is the franchise number for the highest paid position, most likely QB's. So it's unlikely you'd want to throw that much money at a player.

Wait a second. You're saying an aging outside linebacker with no passrush skills shouldn't be getting Manning-money?
