Need new PC monitor

My 4 yearold took a scouring pad to my pc monitor and now it has scratches all across the screen. It wasn't an expensive monitor it came with the computer. But, now we need to buy a new one. So I looking for suggestions on places on the web to buy PC monitors at a good price? Any suggestions? New Egg?

Check out the forums at www.slickdeals.net. There's normally 10-20 different deals a day for monitors. I've gone through about 4 different LCD monitors in the past year just by buying and selling them. I also have a 21 inch CRT that I'm just to lazy to actually move off my desk.

Dell 20" widescreen LCD (Dell.com).

If you want something cheap, I bought a cheapest-I-could-find 17" Acer LCD for $160 at NewEgg for my daughter's computer. NewEgg did fine.

I'm going to pimp my monitor (BENQ 20" Widescreen LCD - 8ms):

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824014105

I paid $295 for it 8 months ago, it's a steal at $212.99. It can output to two different sources. I have it hooked up to my pc and my Xbox 360 and it's as easy as pressing a button to switch between the two.

I love this monitor, I couldn't believe I paid $300 for it.

LCD or CRT?

If it is a LCD you might want to google "vaseline" "LCD" "Repair". If it is an older CRT then you should be able to repair it with normal eye glass repair kit.

IF this is just an excuse to buy a newer bigger, better monitor; then go for it.

My daughter took a screwdriver to my monitor a few years back. She was three. My monitor had an anti-glare coating on it, that she scratched off. I put up with that for three years. I even tried scraping the glare coating stuff off with a razor, but it just didn't come off. Then earlier this year, my two year old son wiped his hand across the monitor with some spit on it. I came by a couple of hours later, and wiped it off. The spit ate right through the coating. It was great...I didn't have to scroll the screen around to get a proper view of the FOFC hot or not pics.

Oh sorry to ramble. My daughter didn't get a spanking for her behavior, but she remembers to this day how I feel about respecting property. Daddy wasn't a happy camper.

That is exactly the one i have been looking latelly, because the good price, the good reviews it received and the 2 imput sources and switch. The problem is justifing myself the purchase of another monitor when i have already a 17" TFT and a 19" TFT. I want it because the wide screen format as mines are standard 4:3 size.

I'm trying to convince my wife about how much she needs a PC instead of the notebook that she uses, as i have spare hardware to build her a PC and i can give her the 19" TFT so i'll "need to" buy the 20" one

Damn, it sucks to be a geek, i can't ever have enough electronic devices.

Don't buy the bargain 19" Acer LCD.
It was $139 at Wal-Mart. (laugh I was in a pinch, monitor went out and I needed to finish the project that night)
It IS probably worth 139. But does not compare with some others I have looked at. And it has started making a very odd noise at times...I'm thinking of returning it, but not sure if its worth the 10 minute argument with the 45IQ customer service manager

There is a deal that keeps popping up with a viewsonic 19'' Widescreen for around $150.

I bought one at CompUSA for about that price, after rebates, and I am very happy with my purchase.

I bought mine just for the 360 alone, but I had a 17" LCD, so the widescreen is definitly an upgrade.

Go for it!

I'm about to drop $200 on a psp for the 2nd time! lol

Cosco is currently selling a Viewsonic 22" vx2235wm LCD for only $249. That's $100 cheaper than I've seen it online, and the reviews are pretty favorable, but not glowing. I do NOT do any hardcore gaming, I'm mostly looking for more real-estate for my work apps. Anyone got it?

An LG L204WT, 20.1'' monitor. Is usually always in the discussion for best value in a widescreen LCD. Brilliant monitor, great for gaming and general use. I just love it.
