24" TFT monitor for PC, too big?
I'm thinking on buying a new monitor for my PC that could be good also for console gaming, as our main TV is 90% of the time used by my wife.
I have found this one, a BENQ FP241W that is 24", HDMI with HDCP (for PS3 usage) that has a lot of imputs, VGA, DVI, HDMI and Component cable, so i can hook any current/nextgen console or HD source to it (like my Ps2 until i decide if i buy a ps3 or not). It looks great for console gamming, current and next gen, and the reviews says that the image quallity is great for PC usage like photo editing but... my doubt is... isn't 24" too big for a PC monitor as you sit at like 3 feet from it? will it be comfortable enought knowing that i use my Pc for web editing work? any expereince with big widescreen monitors in PC's? My current one is a 19" non widescreen. This is what i love from it: Here is the link to this 24" benq: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824014124

I wish I had a 24" monitor, mine is only a mere 20". *sigh*
I do love BenQ though! |

How could it be too big for PC? I'm rocking two Dell 20.1s and I wish i had more space to work with. Go for it.

I just imagine it was a typo for "too small"

Just bought a Viewsonic 22" Widescreen, it's amazing. And it also weighs about 10% of what my old 21" did (1994 model).

I use the 24" Dell Widescreen at work, and no it is not too big. It's perfect for gaming (testing out GRAW 2 on it from a 360 devkit is awesome), and for work I'm often just sizing windows the way I want them. Most documents are too big if stretched all the way, but it is MUCH easier to open two documents side-byg-side for editing.
So go for it, you'll be happy.

Ok, i'll get it then, i was worried about having to look a lot from one side to another as you are sitting close to it so probably it wouldn't fit into your line of vision, but i have been measuring it and while bigger than my non wide screen 19", it doesn't seems that bigger. I love the HDMI and component imputs, that way i'll be able to play the consoles in my computer room without having to buy an HD TV just for gaming (as i don't watch TV ever in that room).

I have a 26 inch monitor. So no, 24 inches isn't too big.

Update, got it today and it's amazing, it's exactly what i was looking for, a great PC monitor for work and a nice HD TV for consoles or movies, now i can play here with the console without moving to the main TV room.
A nice touch of this screen is the PIP mode, this is a photo i just took for a hardware forum in Spanish where i was asked about this monitor. You can see the forum in the background a the PIP windows with my PS2 playing GOW 2, nice to play and surf at same time. ![]()

I had this "problem" when I went from a 15" LCD to a 19" LCD. After a week or so, I adjusted to it. Now, I hate the thought of ever going back to a 15" monitor (and dream of the day I can get a 24" Widescreen LCD.......bastard....) |
