How to sim multiple years?

Have I missed a default method of simming many years unattended? What are some common ways of building a fictional league stat history?
Thanks

Welcome to the board!

Unfortunately, there is no "one-click" function to sim multiple years. The best way to do it is:
-set everything to CPU-controlled
-click "sim entire season"
-click always "skip" in the off-season (coaches hiring & free agency)
-click "have scout finish draft"
-click "skip" in the late FA stage
Seems painful, but the process is quite fast. If I remember correctly, I usually sim around 10 seasons in 20-25 minutes (or less, maybe).
Obviously, the simming speed also depends on the machine you have.

One big caveat to this. Usually your Computer AI for your team doesn't go after the big name FA if any are available. So your team will be bad after simming a few years. Great if you want to work your way up.

I am on a quest to show that the Dolphins can win the Super Bowl. Or should I say Front Office Bowl, with FOF2K7.

Thanks guys, that sounds doable. The sim speed seems fast enough to go that route, plus it might be fun to sweat the #1 pick in the draft now and then.

Hopefully in the future a "simulate X number of years" will be added. It sure helps with stat tests, and in OOTP I like to start a league with 50 or 100 years of history with approachable records to go after. Problem in OOTP is - or was - that the long sims take a long long time. A couple of versions ago I'd have to leave the machine running all night to sim a decade or two. I just got a new PC and when I saw how fast simming a year is in FOF, first thing I though was, "Time to run 100 years over a cup of coffee".

I haven't done it in a while, but if the few buttons we need to click on to advance seasons don't tend to move around the screen, then one of may be able to write a script to keep clicking on those spots at the right time.

I still insist, the "sim multiple seasons" option either does or it does not exist. You can't have it both ways.

Just my luck that I'd be in a universe where Jim didn't put it in the game.

Remember that many of the infinite multitudes of QuikSands that are fortunate enough to be able to sim multiple years have worse trade logic.
