FTB Feedback
So after some intense negotiations I've reupped my FTB contract. SD had informed me that we've been at this for 3 months, so we've had a few entries under our belt. It seems like a good moment to see if there is anything that could be done to make this feature even better.

I'd like to see it come around more often. It might not be feasible, but for example, taking questions for two people at a time in separate threads, and then posting one set of answers on a Saturday and the other on a Sunday. That'll give some good reading material for the weekend when there's usually not much. Plus my employer will probably enjoy getting the hour of productivity back from the workday when these are posted.

It has become one of my favorite features on the board. I wouldn't change a thing. I think double threads at once might cheapen it somehow.......like when Who Wants to be a Millionaire went to like 9 nights a week.

I agree with two at a time being a bad idea.

That was along what I was thinking. It would definitely not make sense to do two on say a Tuesday and a Thursday. |

I would love anything which gets more people to read FTB. My two concerns about moving it to the weekend are this:
1. Don't LESS people visit the board on the weekend? So while it might not get bumped down to page 2 might it still receive less exposure? 2. I wouldn't really want to change the time line for answering questions too much since I think it's important to give the participants some of the weekend to work on questions as it takes a fair amount of time to answer the questions. |

That's what I'm thinking...the timing should be driven by the respondee's ability to complete the task.

Yeah, I have no problem with the way it's being done. I actually don't know what possible changes can take place. It's a pretty simple concept

I would keep everything the same. I think having the weekend available is probably important for most respondents as it can be a lengthy process to answer all of the questions and the majority of people are off on the weekends.

I would like more pictures, if possible.

I like it and don't think that it should be changed much at all.
Perhaps if people don't want to miss answers, we could sticky the answers thread for a few days. |

I think the FTB should be stickied for people to ask questions from Thursday to Saturday. If the stats show that not many people are using the main page of this site (which shows the next FTB participant), then a sticky for the answers would be a great idea and can stay up there from Wednesday to Friday.

How about a subforum where we just move the FTB threads after a week?

Or a stickied FTB thread, which would have a link to the FOFC wiki page, which I believe has a link to each answer thread (or more simply a notation at the bottom of the post that would have all of the links). Put this in one post, below the announcement of the week's contestant and a link to the thread where the questions are being posted. |

I think the people asking the questions should win money. Well, actually, just me. You should send money to me. I'll PM you my home address. No money orders, please.

You have 3 choices:
1) Me wearing a hockey sweater in Pennsylvania this week 2) Me wearing nothing in the French Quarter next week 3) Both

I like FTB the way it is. I don't like the idea of it being posted on the weekend either, like it was pointed out that may be helpful to some - but for the majority I think during the week is better.
I think the sticky set-up would be manageable though.

I'd like to second the idea of having some kind of stickied reference thread that links to all the FTB answer threads

I really like the way it's done now but it would help if two things happened:
1. The question thread was stickied for the time that questioning is allowed. I've missed getting to ask questions a few times for not having seen the thread owing to being crazy busy and it not being on the front page. 2. If the responses are wiki'd or kept somewhere easy to find, then have a sticky announcement or something with a link for where to find the wiki/that easy place to find. I think it's great the way it is, though, so even if these changes don't happen, it's not the end of the world (just means that doofuses like me may miss chances to question). /tk

The only thing that I think's wrong with FTB, is I haven't been asked yet.
(although there's a part of me that says "Wait.. this is a bad thing?")

Can you get sticky powers? It would be easier if you did it as you post the thread instead of waiting for the next mod to log in.

Any way we can get a thread that links all of the question threads and response threads so we have them all indexed?

There's a wiki on all the participants answers on Barkeep's signature. I've been updating the answers as they're posted; I'll add the questions links as well. Has the wiki been added to the "FOF/TCY (and other text sims) REFERENCE, STRATEGY, LINKS, ETC." thread? |
