Rosie O'Donnell Goes Insane

I suppose some of you guys have heard about Rosie now believing 9/11 was an inside job (though she keeps dancing around admitting it outright on the view while still parroting the long-debunked conspiracy sites talking points).

She said on the air the other day that it was the first time in history fire has ever melted steel (the entire field of metallurgy called and would like to have a word with you, Roe) and that it was physically impossible. She's off the deep end and no one on The View is really smart enough to counter her stupidity.

Now, I don't watch The View, but of course, millions do. I'm a bit worried about the effect her insane rants are going to have on a lot of people. We already know there are people out there gullible enough to fall for this nonsense, and Rosie spewing one side unopposed like this is worrisome.

I think (and hope) that Rosie isn't going to be on that show much longer and her career is probably going to be in tatters after this silliness. What do you think?

I think that within another year or so, [u]if[/i] she decides she wants to stay, it'll be Rosie's show. Walters has pretty much given up on any sort of control, Behar is just happy to have someone drawing enough viewers to keep her career afloat, Hasselbeck is about 10-1 to snap & put a bullet in O'Donnell.

She's nuttier than a ten pound fruitcake (not to mention quite a bit heavier) but there's no shortage of people that appeals to, so it'll keep playing.

I'm pretty dumbfounded by the fact that she has a career at all. If being unattractive and having no talent hasn't held her back, I'm not sure if being an insane idiot will have any effect.

I really don't think ABC will stand for her rants. She even sort of implicitly accused ABC of brainwashing the country on the air. I just think they will have had (quiz: what tense is that) enough of her pretty soon, and she will suddenly decide that the show isn't for her anymore. Maybe, I'm wrong, but I hope not.

Well Elizabeth Hasselbeck was calling out Rosie on the youtube clip I saw. So good for her... though a shame the rest of them didn't say a word. Maybe they are afraid of Rosie?

Yeah Elisabeth tries but she is a little too timid and allows Rosie to shout her down. Though she is still hot as hell.

Rosie's a total loon... Everybody knows that the towers were fell using alien spacecraft designed to look like 767's and flown by clones of Elvis and JFK.

The problem with Elizabeth is that she's as much of an airhead as Rosie is a fatass. I would love for Elizabeth to shut that blimp up, but all she cares about is celebrity gossip, fashion and reality shows. She would never actually do the research (all 10 minutes of it) that would be required to prove everything Rosie says wrong...not that it would shut her up....

Yeah, I was trying to be nice. Mainly because she's hot and if she reads with this she might not have sex with me.

Shrug. I was sure that this was a bump of an old thread but apparently some people are just realizing the truth of your thread title.

Ain't that the truth. I remember seeing her stand up comedy routine on VH1 way before she ever got popular and thought she sucked out loud. Couple years later, she's doing movies and then had that God awful TV show. I just don't get it. She's like a less talented Rosanne.

Don't you think there will be a backlash now though? There might be a short-term surge of people tuning in to watch her make a fool of herself, but after that dies down? I think viewers will be turned off by her. This is career suicide.

I always got the impression that she became famous because she was friends with famous people (like Madonna, for one). It's a common story in show business, it seems. Famous people try and make their friends famous, and I think that's what happened here. Now they she actually got on TV and was allowed to spout off nonsense that idiot housewives eat up, the TV business people found out that she means ratings, and now we're stuck.

At least it's good for a laugh on The Soup.

Are you kidding? Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise, etc. If there is any kind of furor (which I doubt) she'll apologize, change the subject, and roll right along.

Not in the least.

Roughly half the country is ready to say "you go girl", even it she's wrong she's still sticking it to the enemy. Where's the backlash going to come from? Remember, a fair percentage of Rush Limbaugh listeners hate his guts too, but they listen. Same thing with Rosie, even those who don't agree are watching to some extent, if only in hopes that Hasselbeck will finally lose it & kill the bitch.

And in the case of View, it's like a double bonus. Advertisers were loyal to the show even when the ratings when sliding towards being crap, now that they're up, the rates are going to climb & demand is getting stronger.

It's no more career suicide for her than it has been for Bill Maher, Al Franken, Keith Olberman, or any of the other wingnuts banging the same sort of drum.

No, but both went out of their way to offend many, many more people than will be offended by Rosie's assertion. Her fans who disagree with her will not be offended; they will probably be amused.

Again, I don't believe any of these people are supporting the idea that the government murdered 3,000+ of its own citizens. Admittedly, I might have missed it if they did.

The reality is, people won't take it that way. Cruise and Gibson got personal with people; very few people take the reputation of their government personally.

The way I remember it going down on here was one or two people bought the loose change nonsense for a bit until people here yelled at them for awhile and they claimed they only supported the movie as entertainment or something. I don't remember anyone here believing 9/11 was an inside job outside of that. I can believe there are people here gullible enough to fall for it, though, just haven't seen it yet.

In all seriousness for a month or so after 9/11 I realized that this would be a brilliant move by the government to orchestrate this but really, no, didn't seriously give them credit to be able to pull something like this off.

Think of it? Sure. Pull it off? No.

Now, years later, seeing how they can't even fire guys without it becoming a major issue, I feel my initial thoughts are pretty justified. No way this administration ( or most administrations ) could hide something like this in our current environment.

I don't agree with her views on this and her personality gas grated on me since the heady days of VH1. But there are plenty of people for whom this is their kind of crazy -- and you'll find similar audiences on countless shows up and down the dial. The politics may be different, but the crazy is the same.

She didn't say it was "staged", but she did say it was intentional, part of a grand plan to invade Iran by this summer.

At least Iran is in on the grand plan for us to invade by the summer. It would just be dishonest if they weren't part of the conspiracy as well.

I think she means that the British sent their soldiers to be captured, on American orders or something. But I like your version better.

Read American Hero by Larry Beinhart, which is a fictional story built around the first Iraq conflict, which makes a tongue-in-cheek-but-not-ridiculous case for Saddam being in on the conspiracy conflicts there...
