The fact that no doubt is still here shows how truly sad the record industry has become the last 20 years.

Give me A Flock of Seagulls anyday.

The early No Doubt stuff as you might hear on California Ska Quake Vol. 1 ('92) is much better than the MTV tripe of Tragic Kingdom('95) .

Don't blame me. I've had them targeted for a couple of rounds now.

This poll will suck if LZ isn't left standing anway, so we'll see what happens.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. This has saved me from writing a long post on how awful Nirvana was and the terrible, negative music they wrote and promoted. The only shame I feel is that they lasted to round 5.

As promised, I will lend my support to the No Doubt coalition.

You're thinking of the armless days. Think back to Pyromania, or even before that. Bringin' On the Heartbreak is a great song!

My mission is complete, so I voted for the band I did not recognize until Kodos told me who they were.

I never have like Def Leppard much, nothing I can put my finger on, just a general dislike. And it's definitely not because I don't like the rock bands from the 80s.

No Doubt really can't be pegged as simply pop, they bring a lot of different elements into their music. No 2 songs sound alike.

I think we've gotten rid of the major crap, now we're down to personal preferences.

I've always hated No Doubt, but then I had never heard of them until they hit it big, so maybe they were good before they got popular, I don't know. I've always thought Gwen Stefani was of limited talent (to put it nicely) and trying too hard to be Madonna. Musically, to me, No Doubt is to Ska what Green Day is to Punk.

Most of the people passing judgement on them probably don't know anything about them. All they know is Kurt Cobain commited suicide and that he's a huge loser, whatever.

Any poll that holds No Doubt and Def Leppard in a higher esteem than Nirvana isn't woth the space it occupies

That has got to be one of the funniest things I have ever read, too bad it's too long for the QotM. Imagine that, a yuppie like me not liking Nirvana because they killed the 80s hair band. Lol. Friend, for one, I am about anti-yuppie as can be and two, I remember when the Beatles were still putting out albums. You can take your music of self-loathing, self-pity, hopelessness, joylessness and angst and...and...shit, I lost my train of thought. So there.

Actually, I am not hung up on the order of who got voted off, we could only vote for one at a time when by right, 5 to 7 of them are equally deserving to have been fed to the sharks.

I liked Nirvana. Like many of the other grunge bands, I lost my taste for them quickly. Musically, I don't think they did enough to warrant (no pun intended) the kind of attention they have gotten, but there's no doubt (no pun intended) that they were influential during their brief time. I think Cobain probably would have become a very good song writer, and I can only wish that had he lived, he might have given thought to taking some vocal lessons, because he was really hard to listen to.

As for the bashing, it comes with the territory of any band that gets too popular for its own good. Most bands crash and burn eventually, and to do it in the way they did it, with all of the crap they're going through now with his wife, just feeds the fire. Hell, just having that no-talent bitch as a wife is enough to vote for them in this poll, IMO.

I have to admit, this is one of the funniest unintentionally humorous posts I have read in some time.

And as for the later quote, hey, buddy, get a clue. Not everyone is going to like what you do or agree with you in this world. They are not right and neither are you. And neither they nor you are wrong either. These are just opinions.

Sorry if you have happened into a group that doesn't like Nirvana so much. If you took off the Nirvana-colored glasses for a moment, though, you might notice that every band in this poll has been ripped by someone, with the possible exceptions of the Eagles and Led Zepellin (and they are the only two that shouldn't be--yes, that was irony. ).

Man...the Anti-Beastie Boys coalition has failed miserably...I've been doing my part, but come on now...we're going to have to get rid of the Beastie Boys before Def Leppard...

(PS - How many people want to form a coalition to remove the Eagles next, to clear the way for LZ?)

I think pjstpky (whatever his name is) took offense to my critique of Kurt Cobain/Nirvana in earlier threads, even with my disclaimer that I was only voicing my personal opinion, and not handing down the final word of God. Hey bud - suck it up, it's just a silly poll. Feel free to disregard it entirely if it helps you feel better. Your band lost, mine will too. I think you've maybe been listening to Nirvana a little too much. But, hey, at least you beat out the Backstreet Boys!

BTW, I fully support the movement to remove the Beastie Boys next.

It's Leppard!!! I bet you're one of those who spells Megadeth Megadeath, aren't you?

Sorry, I can't vote rap over a one-time decent hard rock band. Too many memories.

On the subject of losers, I read the following on a music newsletter I get. It's amazing that this guy can come up with so many cliched song titles for one album:

The new album from Meat Loaf, “Couldn’t Have Said It Better” has the following tracks: Couldn't Have Said It Better, Did I Say That, Why Isn't That Enough, Love You Out Loud, Man Of Steel, Intermezzo, Testify, Tear Me Down, You're Right I'm Wrong, Because Of You, Do It and Forever Young.

Some people would actually think that a drummer who loses an arm, but finds a way to continue playing (when 99.9% of other drummers would just quit) would be a source of inspiration.

We should probably take this idea and break it down into genres in a semi-serious poll. That would be interesting.

Then we can have an all-Britney, Spice Girls, New Kids, etc., poll. Now who in the hell would want anyone to win THAT one?
