Just a warning, but I went through three 880's before giving up on it and getting my money back from amazon.com about a year ago. The first one wouldn't charge, the second one had two programmable buttons that wouldn't work and the third one had a volume button that kept sticking. Amazon was great about taking them back, but I just got tired of trying to get one that worked right. If you get one that works, I think it would be a nice remote but I gave up and got a more expensive remote that worked right off the bat.

edit: They might have gotten the quality issues worked out since I ordered though since it's been a while.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting that price range in this thread.

Tell me about it. If I'm paying that much for a remote it better have the option to have Salma Hayek, Jessica Alba, Halle Berry or Shakira stand next to me to change the channels for me.

The one I ended up getting was $400 on sale. Some of the ones I looked at were over $1000.

With the increasing complexity of home theater setups, these things can be a godsend. They remember the state of all the devices, so you can press a single "watch a DVD" button and it sets up the TV, DVD player, and Receiver to the correct power state and inputs while turning everything else off. They also have web or PC-based programming that make it much easier to set up for all your devices than punching in a bunch of codes. And if the grandparents or babysitter are coming over to watch the kids, it's much easier to explain to them how to use it.

Yep, those kinds of remotes are generally not aimed at someone who just has a tv. I have over a dozen things that my remote runs (including the lights in my HT room).

I have this remote and can say it is great. It is really easy to customize and get working with everything in your house.

I'd lose this thing in 8 minutes. Then I'd find it, spend 2 hours programming it, then the batteries would fall out and I'd have to program it again. Then I would be forced to destroy it.

Hmmm... still thinking about it. I know it's a refurb, and I really only have 2 (maybe 3) remotes it'd replace... but it's pretty cool. Though $100 for a remote... hmmm.
