I certainly don't defend Alec Baldwin for the way he goes off on his 12 year old daughter on this voicemail, threatening her, calling her a "rude, little pig", etc. (Though, come on, let's face it. Apparently as part of the custody settlement in their nasty, bitter divorce, there is an arrangement where there are set times Kim or Alec can call the "rude, little pig" ("RLP") when RLP is with the other. So, as rumor has it, whenever RLP is with Alec and Kim calls, RLP always answers the phone and they talk for hours and hours... This, most likely, upsets Alec to no end. However, when Alec calls to talk RLP when she is with Kim, RLP has her phone off or doesn't pick up or whatever. This too, as evidenced by the voicemail, upsets Alec to no end.

And that... is the rest of the story.

Yeah, Psycho dad + Psycho mom=fucked up kid. I think he goes off quite a bit and he shouldn't. But I could see what his frustration may be. I'd hope he just wants the best for his kid, and doesn't want her doing bukkake vids at 15, rather than just trying to get back at her mother. Who knows, definitely poor form for the Basinger camp to release this.

Yeah, I was wondering how this got out. This should definately be a family matter, but she decides to bring the media into it (if she indeed release it to the press). Looks bad for Baldwin, but in my view, this is worse for Basinger. Yep...the only things I find fault with what he said was the 'pig' crack and the part where he called her dumb (or whatever it was). I have an uncle who went through a divorce when his kids were in their early teens, and the crap their mother put them up to and how she ruined his relationship with his kids would have driven anyone over the edge. At times when some of us tried talking sense to them, we wanted to give them a verbal smackdown. My uncle, quite frankly, ended up more emotionally drained and physically broken down by it all then anything else. But if something like this had come out in his case, I could understand him cracking under the stress and unleashing in a particular moment of extreme frustration. I can only imagine when you're used to being such important, respected, and wealthy people as these people are, that the whole thing just turns into a high-flying clusterfuck of gigantic proportions.
