"Contract Year"
Once again I've run into one of my players having a monster season in a "contract year". now usually I give all my extensions out once FA1 starts so I don't have a lot of players playing the final year of their contract out that way, I usually only do that if I plan on franchising said player.
The team record for sacks in a season HAD been 16.0 until last season when 5th year DE showed why he was the #2 overall pick by us in 2029... 26.0 sacks along with 60 tackles, 21 assists, 27 hurries and 21 blocks. His previous season high was 13.0 sacks, the only other season he cracked double digits (he was fully developed around the middle of his rookie season or close to it). I'll post his stats in future seasons as I plan on franchising him, anyone seeing this? |

Just out of curiousity, what happens when you put this guy on the trading block?

I see players come up with big seasons in their contract year all the time. I also usually sign guys before the year begins, but when I don't they often have career years.

would be an interesting test to see how well two identical teams will do, one with everyone on their last year of contract, the other with everyone locked up with the good old seven-year minsal.
