iTunes question

So I just got an iPod for my birthday and have been putting my CD collection on it the past couple of days. I ran into a problem, though. I have two hard drives on my computer, the 20G C: drive that came with the computer, and an 80G internal F: drive that I installed myself. My C drive is almost completely full, so I installed iTunes to my F drive so I would have room for my music, but yesterday, after uploading 20 or so of my CDs, I got the dreaded "C drive is almost full" message. It turns out that even though iTunes is on the F drive, it saves the music to the "My Music" folder on the C drive.

Does anyone know of a way that I can transfer the music over to the F drive and have iTunes find it? And better yet, make it so iTunes saves to the F drive in the future?

Thanks!

go to preferences...
advanced tab...
itunes folder location...
click change...
reroute to where you want it to be

I think that'll work.

OK, another question for you iTunes wizards...

So the F: drive that I mentioned earlier apparently fried. Since all my iTunes stuff was on it, is the music lost forever or is there some way to reverse sync it so that my music goes from my iPod to my iTunes?

First thing I do when I get iTunes reinstalled, though, is to turn off auto-sync. I don't want to lose the musc off my iPod because iTunes is empty...

And now iTunes wants to install to the F: drive and keeps giving me an error message because it can't find it...

Once you get iTunes installed again, right click on the iPod icon and select "Transfer Purchase" or just select "Transfer Purchase" from the file menu on the top. That should move any songs you purchased onto your computer.

dola...

However, I don't know what it does for non-purchased audio, like podcasts, songs converted from a CD, etc.

What you can do is open up the iPod like a flash drive (from My Computer). Show hidden files on the iPod. Inside the Control folder, you'll find a folder for music. The contents will look like gibberish...don't worry. Drag this folder into your iTunes, and it should copy everything back correctly.

You'll need to download a program like copypod or something like it, check ipod lounge for the latest and greatest program. This will bring along all of the information along with the song and depending on the program your ratings and plays for it as well.

I use Winamp and the ipod plug in. Easily transfer your music back and forth.
