I know this is probably a scam..

...but I can't find any info online about it.

Company is Global Financial Management and Payment Centre
463 Main Street, Buffal Ny 14203.

Tel # 416-628-5130, 289-888-1762, 204-952-2310 (yes 3 separate phone #s)

Claiming declared winner in Microsoft UK?North-American Sweepstakes in conjunction with Lotto 24 International Lottery held on April 16th, 2007 in the 2nd category.

Sum is $250,000 (US). It enclosed a $2,500 check from Manhattan Chase Bank and says that part of the first check is to pay for applicable "Taxes on your Lumpsum" (quote from letter). Surcharge/Flat Tax is $2,250.

"Please do ot attempt to cash check until you call and speak to one of our claims agents at *lists #'s above*"

So yeah, I'm sure it's a scam, but I wanted to see what FOFC can dig up.

Shockingly, I won the same thing. Tell you what - why don't you give me a $100, and I'll give my share of the "winnings".

My guess is that when you call them back, they will tell you to deposit their check and ask that you send them the $2,250 so that they can take care of your "taxes". Then they will cash your check to them and stop payment on their check to you. There are a variety of scams using this technique.

Just deposit the check. Maybe you'll get lucky like Patrick Combs.

Thanks. That's what I was looking for, since the person who actually got this letter (an elderly relative of mine) thought it might be legitimate and I was looking for more evidence other than what I've already pointed out to prove to them that it is in fact a scam.

Step 1: Write incoherent email about winning some lottery.

Step 2: Send this email to Izulde's old relative.

Step 3: Profit!

You forgot put the name of a HUGE company on it.

Because we know how huge companies are always involved in Lotteries.
