SECOND BatRacer Private League Created

Due to popular demand, I've created a second FOFC BatRacer private league (FOFC2).

Players will need to be registered and logged in before they can enter the private game. When logged in, clicking the following URL will take you to the join game page:

http://batracer.com/-cj?&D&14535

Alternatively, you can select "private games" from the menu and enter the number "14535" into the box. The game password is "dolamite". Take care not to accidentally join a public game by mistake.

The password for the league is dolamite

The basics are:
* You go faster with a good setup than you do with a bad setup.
* You can use the engineer's advice (link in the upper right on the setup screen) to make an initial guess at a setup. (You'll also get important info on tire wear.)
* Use your practice and warmup laps to refine your setup.

Your driving style will influence how fast you go vs. how likely you are to make an error that costs you time, causes damage, or forces retirement. Your qualification strategy will influence how fast you go vs. how likely you are to make an error that sets you back or costs you further runs. Your race strategy controls when you will pit and which tires you will use.

Ran as high as 5th, then the rain let up and I went with Full wet Tires far too long.....For anybody using Kool tools, do they help enough to justify the purchase?

It's great for team setup, you can see your teammates settings (if they don't use Driver Chat).. plus they have a wet/dry setup that automatically adjusts your settings for rain when you set it.

Plus if you get addicted to the game like I am.. it raises your limits for games to 4 each (4 private, 4 public, 4 Midseason replacement)

Sheesh Alan, the race is to see who crosses the finish line first, not who blows their car up first! :P

That collision early is what kept me from winning I think. *grr*. At least we both got points

I dunno about incompetent, thanks to you setting some good paramaters for me to qualify, I think we're going to do really well at this race (Check the team talk)

Not sure what happened there. I was running a pretty conservative strategy this race, so I don't think it was due to any aggressiveness issue. Glad to see both cars continue on and do well.

Anyone interested in another one? I was thinking of doing a Champ Private league... I already created it, but I know people can only join one private at a time....

Man I'm getting pissed off. I've qualified 2 and 6 the last two races and been knocked out right off the opening grid. My race start style is at 50. Should I go higher to defend more or be more passive. I don't want to just let guys pass at will. It's really pissing me off.

Yeh, me too. I've had to go the whole season on my own. My teammate signed up and has never done anything in the game and it won't let me sack him for some reason. Oh well, I'm doing okay and still in the hunt.

If you literally mean getting knocked out (collisions), I'm not sure what the relationship is between the start slider and chance of an accident, if any. I personally run a relatively low start slider (as in, 35 or lower, more like 20 when I'm on the pole) when I'm toward the front, to try to avoid a stall or exceptionally bad start (the former will drop you to the back, the latter will typically cost you ca. 10 places). It's pretty rare for me to be knocked out at the front of the race. These days, I run with aggression under 70.

Once we get the FOFC ChampCar League going, might be interesting to see stuff like this..

From the ChampCar League I'm in:

Lap 1 of 85
Brian Jarvis (P11) made an exceptionally bad start.
Harrop (P15) made an exceptionally bad start.
Derek Jennings (P16) made an exceptionally bad start.
John Gorecki (P22) made an exceptionally bad start.
Greenwood (P23) made an exceptionally bad start.
The start is especially messy!
TOTAL MAYHEM!
EASYPASS: Marshall (P1) is powerless to stop Nel from overtaking.
There is a collision as Freese attempts to pass Marshall for P2! Freese is out of the race! Marshall has lost time and possibly track position.
EASYPASS: Yellope (P19) was so much quicker than Bradshaw it made things easier.
EASYPASS: Bomar (P20) despatches Bradshaw cleanly.
John Gorecki (P21) sells Bradshaw a dummy and is able to pass!
Greenwood (P22) overtakes Bradshaw!
EASYPASS: Casillo (P23) despatches Bradshaw cleanly.
Ruth (P3) out-brakes Jacek Politowski into turn 1!
Montoya (P4) forces past Jacek Politowski!
Young has collided with Figueras whilst trying to defend P5! Figueras is out of the race! Young appears to have a problem and will pit next lap to fix it.
Sosa has collided with Anthony Ferguson whilst trying to defend P6! Anthony Ferguson appears to be lapping slower. Sosa is out of the race!
EASYPASS: Brian Jarvis (P7) struggled to defend against the faster Ritchie.
EASYPASS: Brian Jarvis (P8) submits to Phil Anderson's faster car.
EASYPASS: Jeff Wiltshire (P10) was so much quicker than Brian Jarvis it made things easier.
EASYPASS: Jones (P13) despatches Derek Jennings cleanly.
EASYPASS: Derek Jennings (P13) is powerless to stop Fedorov from overtaking.
EASYPASS: Harrop (P11) is powerless to stop Jones from overtaking.
Yellope (P15) forces past Derek Jennings!
EASYPASS: Derek Jennings (P15) is powerless to stop Bomar from overtaking.
Casillo (P19) forces past Greenwood!
EASYPASS: There is nothing Brian Jarvis (P10) can do to stop Jones from overtaking.
Brian Jarvis (P11) is half asleep and realises too late that Fedorov is overtaking!
Yellope (P14) and Harrop battle it out into turn 1. Yellope wins the duel and gains the place!
EASYPASS: Bomar (P15) breezes past Harrop.
Bomar (P14) forces past Yellope!
There is a collision as Casillo attempts to pass Derek Jennings for P16! Casillo is out of the race! Derek Jennings appears to have a problem and will pit next lap to fix it.
Bomar (P13) sells Brian Jarvis a dummy and is able to pass

1/6th of the field (4 out of 24), and a number of others have to pit after lap one to fix something.

I think this is the ChampCar version of "The Big One" wreck at NASCAR tracks

TOTAL MAYHEM is awesome. You get it in V8's sometimes too.

Speaking of which, V8's are long, and they wouldn't be suitable for a private league because the point structure falls apart with less than a full grid, but they're great fun for a public league.

On an unrelated note, anyone interested in teaming up in a couple of public/private games for a while? The seasons that I play in that have really active teammates are alot more fun than seasons where I feel that I am by myself. Plus its been helpful in learning alot of how the game runs. I am all full on public games right now 4/4, but one or two likely will end in the next week or 10 days I think.

Would like to have a teammate interested in trying to compete in some stuff if anyone is interested.

I didn't get into the private indy car league that was started, so I'm looking for a private league to join. If you want a partner, let me know I'll do it with you.
