What, no thread for this yet?!

I'll avoid spoilers in the first post (in case of over folks hovering over the title with their mouse pointers).

Though, saying so, it was excellent stuff!

Far better than the second one. And very well done with the story. The 'twist' at the end took me by surprise, since I didn't think they'd actually do it, even though there was foreshadowing.

And the action scene at the end was just classic. An absolutely wonderful naval battle! And the wedding scene in the middle of it was just amusing as Hell.

You sure didn't watch the same movie I did. I thought the last half-hour was the worst of any major movie I've seen ... ever. Against stiff competition, but it's still not even close. I may never watch another movie directed by Gore Verbinski again -- and I really liked the first one in the series.

Yeah, we definately didn't watch the same movie. I consider the last half-hour to be some incredible big budget action movie making. I loved every second of it.

It had its moments, but overall this one was a letdown compared to the first two in my opinion.

Ick, I thought the second one blew, frankly. Ok, maybe it didn't blow, but it was no where near the first one. The third one, IMO, was closer in quality to the first one, leaving the second one in the dust.

I thought it was no where near as good as the first one, but I liked it a bit better than the second one which I thought was not that great. There were some parts of this movie I enjoyed alot, and other parts that i just thought was silly and unneccessary. (Like the wedding during a fight scene was rather dumb)

Yes...you can mark me down in the disappointed category as well. I never even watched Pirates 2.

Well, for the curious, the Pirates won 9-5 yesterday.

Oh for the love of God, there wasn't even a Sid Meier's Pirates! 2. It was just called "Sid Meier's Pirates!", a reissue, basically, not a sequal.

Just watched it and I enjoyed it. Certainly not crap. The naval battle was great. Some LOL moments for sure. Even though we spent $80 (ticket and food), it was worth it.

Exactly how I feel.

Solid movie that wrapped up the loose ends, but overall I didn't find it anywhere near as entertaining as the first two.

Definitely stay for the 30 second scene after the credits. That made the movie a bit more special for me.

Spoiler

My thoughts mirror Issidiqui's. Much better than the second one, which was way too long and confusing. Neither was as good as the first one, of course.

Just got home from PIII. My two cents worth would be that it's good. Not great, but good. Best indication of that might be that it didn't seem long, in spite of it's length.

I enjoyed all three, to be fair, but the third was by far the best of them. Good stuff all around.

But I still hope there will not be another...

I do to. Though I'll miss Depp's Jack Sparrow character. Easily one of the most memorable movie characters I've ever seen.

God, do I hope there won't be a Pirates IV!

I think the series of movies ended at the proper point. Just leave it at that. A highly enjoyable final movie. Don't make the mistake of going a sequel too far, guys!

I liked this movie a lot more than the second one.

I found it odd that the movie is only PG, yet there is quite a bit of death and a scene that actually made me cringe (Davey's tentacles going through that guy's nose and mouth).

This is disney, they'll make as many as they can with the original cast and then make a straight to video one with an entirely new cast.
