Larry The Cable Guy: The Poll!
My wife's dad thinks he is hilarious. I've never come close to laughing at a joke of his. Sounds like we need a poll!

Major "tag-along" among the blue collar group in my opinion.

Larry has one good joke every now and then. The rest of the time... yeesh - he's pretty awful.

Ron White is easily the best of that bunch.

how are these guys "blue collar"? they make a ton of money doing a dream job.
they're about as blue collar as Vanilla Ice was a hip hop thug. just cuz you talk about it doesn't make it so. why don't they just call it "southern drawl comedy"? |

Blue Collar is more marketable.
He'll forever be known to me as the guy who said David Cross is family oriented comedy, or something like that. I think Cross is the only guy to come close to pushing my comfort boundries, not an easy task to do. Last edited by jeff061 : 06-04-2007 at 08:34 PM. |

I wish somebody would post that letter from David Cross to Larry the Putz.

I think he's great. Sure he plays a character. And no, he doesn't curse up a storm or do politcal/current events stuff. But he's funny, and that's all that really counts.
Come on, dancing with a peg legged girl and making her taller because you spun her the wrong way? Good stuff.

I'm not really a big enough fan of any comedian to own their CDs or DVDs, but I think he is one of the funnier guys currently out there.
I think Bill Engvall is the tagalong of the Blue Collar crew, though. The whole "Here's Your Sign" routine, to me, screamed of adjusting Foxworthy's "You Might Be A Redneck" and following the same gameplan of making it successful. |

Larry the Cable Guy is my least favorite of the Blue Collar guys by far, though he does make me laugh on occasion. Ron White is one of my favorite comedians overall, the other two are fine and funny, but nothing special IMO.

Oddly, I like Engvall the best, but his non-Sign routines usually get laughs out of me more often than the signature stuff. I mean, some of the Sign ones are just funny...but I think a lot of them do sort of follow the formula. When he's just doing stand-up, though, he gets a laugh out of me more than any of the others. |

To me nothing exemplifies what I want in a comedian more than a gimmick and catchphrase. I mean...it's funny, because he says it a lot. Get it?

"He did what in his cup?"
Just PERFECT casting for the role.

This isn't too dissimilar from most current sitcoms (and four-year-olds). If you say something and somebody laughs, you say it again as often as possible. |

Agreed - I've seen the movie like a billion times or so now since its one of my son's favorites and I don't think they could have cast anyone better for that voice. As for his comedy routine I've heards bits and pieces on XM - alright I guess but nothing I think is hysterically funny. |

Yeah, I selected funny once in a while because when if he is on Comedy Central it will occasionally make my 3-year-old giggle and sometimes even belly laugh as she recalls Mater.

Guy sucks but he's a genius as far as I can tell. Making a killing doing this junk.

I was going to explain the "un-P.C." of a couple of Cross's bits, but it's so over the top I'd worry about getting boxed for just summarizing it
.Mostly I'm thinking of "My Daughter's First Date" off Shutup You Fucking Baby. The guy is a sick sick man. |
