Wed in Wal-Mart
Sometimes I'm proud to be from Louisiana, other times- not so much. This would be one of those other times.

I expect this marriage to last as long a wal-mart sale on corn dogs.

Sounds like they did it because they won some sorta Wal-Mart contest to pay for their wedding and such. New Iberia isn't that bad... Afterall, its cajun country, not redneck country. Now if you told me a couple there truly wanted to get married at the convenience store that makes and sells their favorite boudin, that I would believe.

I understand that Wal-Mart wants the country to know that they gave these weddings away, but did they really have to do the ceremony in Wal-Mart? They couldn't just pay for it and let the ceremony happen in a church or a chapel or a beach or something? With all that said, this looks more elaborate than some of the Louisiana weddings I've seen.

I remember hearing about this a few weeks ago, and I'm pretty sure the reasoning was they wanted a wedding on 7/7/07 but all the churches were booked, so somehow it ended up at wal-mart.
And tigercat- I've spent a lot of time in New Iberia, I'm only a few minutes down the road, I just like to give them all a hard time every now and then |

Don't know about being wed in a Wal-Mart, but someone posted a sign in an office once that said "When I die, bury me under Wal-Mart, so my wife will visit."
