Go Blue: The Conquest of Movoda

Movoda is a MMORPG (www.movoda.net) that some FOFCers and I are playing. The premise of the game is to build a strong guild with other players by collecting resources and training various skills to help in raiding other guilds.

Our guild is named GoBlue and I am our 'technical' leader. However, our guild operates quite smoothly and efficiently and so the majority of my duties as leader require me to come up with names for guild buildings.

We have 18 members in our guild from all around the world. Six of us are FOFCers, the rest we met through two other online games, Omerta and Syrnia. We are, what I would call, the New England Patriots of Movoda. We all have a role that we execute and the sum is bigger than the individual parts.

Our 18 members rank us the 10th largest guild in terms of members out of 87.

Rank Clan Members
1 Champions Of Movoda 72
2 The Alorium 55
3 Movodian Army of Demons 45
4 Hugs and Kisses 34
5 Universal Masters 33
6 Survivors 31
7 Dream Hunters 28
8 Jack of All Trades 28
9 Movodian Misfits 25
10 GoBlue 18

In terms of experience points gained, we rank 4th:

Rank Clan Level Exp
1 Champions Of Movoda 25 48,826,395
2 Movodian Army of Demons 23 36,996,497
3 Universal Masters 20 21,888,618
4 GoBlue 19 18,135,879
5 The Alorium 19 18,038,418
6 Dream Hunters 18 16,693,091
7 Spirits of Divine Valiance 16 10,569,875
8 Survivors 15 9,112,145
9 Night Warriors 15 7,776,985
10 Hugs and Kisses 14 7,344,348

The three guilds above us have 15, 27, and 54 more members than we do so we're fairly active and definitely a force to be reckoned with.

We are also 4th in combat ranking which is a rating based on the total individual combat levels of each member.

Rank Clan
1 Champions Of Movoda[CoM] (0000000020)
2 Movodian Army of Demons[MAD] (0000000029)
3 Universal Masters[Um ] (0000000096)
4 GoBlue[Blue] (0000000137)
5 The Alorium[*TA*] (0000000036)
6 Dream Hunters[DH] (0000000010)
7 Hugs and Kisses[XoXo] (0000000285)
8 Survivors[Alive!] (0000000132)
9 Spirits of Divine Valiance[Onyx] (0000000088)
10 Movodian Misfits[~MM~] (0000000061)

Each guild has the option to build a compound. Our compound has the highest defense level in the game which helps us hold our own against the 'big boys' when they decide to attack.

Now to the members of the team:

We have:
7 fighters in the top 50 of the game
#5 overall constructor (a skill that has been neglected mainly because we're done constructing things)
#8 overall cook
#3 overall crafter
9 of the top 100 mages
4 of the top 50 miners
2 of the top 7 smiths (we had to train another smith due to work cracking down on internet access)
6 of the top 50 woodcutters

Raids:

Raids are where the action is. You are allowed to raid any guild that is ranked higher than you in the Combat Rankings or 2 levels below you. Our last raid was against COM, and well, let's just say we spanked them. They had been mouthing off about how nobody would attack them because they were so big and powerful, so we pimpslapped them back into reality.

Raids require planning and teamwork, two things we do really well. Most of the planning and teamwork in Movoda are, um nonexistent. Our guild is made up of players who have been playing together in other games for almost 3 years now, so we have a great deal of trust already. Most of the other guilds are made up of people who are trying to play solo as much as possible.

The actual combat is based on your combat, speed and magic levels. Combat is pretty self-explanatory. Speed reduces the time between swings at an opponent. Magic allows you to speed yourself up, heal yourself or another player, or cast shock which damages an opponent.

If you're attacking another guild and die, you lose the equipment/items your character is holding. If you die defending your guild, you don't lose anything. Consequently, guilds are able to pile up the defenders during raids since they can fight with zero risk.

Our main rivals are COM and UM. We've worked before with MAD in the past raiding other guilds. COM is formidable just due to the large number of bodies they can throw in their compound for us to fight through. UM is like the redheaded stepchild, we can kick their butts anytime we want. Anyway, I'll be updating with raids and other things that go on.

Just to add on to the part about raids. Cap forgot to mention that the incentive to attacking another guild is that if you win, you get resources out of their guild storehouse or shop.

Alaric paused to wipe the sweat off his brow as he worked in the sawmill. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed there seemed to be more activity than normal in this sleepy town. Something was wrong, and it took him a few seconds to notice that the men who were down the street trying not to look like they were watching him were in fact watching him.

Calmly, he walked over to where RoyHobbs was smithing and gave the signal for a raid. Ardent Enthusiast and Masked were summoned from the mines and StretchingKoala was summoned from the forest. Jag was returning from a trading mission. As the rest of the guild returned, they began to secure the compound.

Alaric looked back up the street and saw that half the men were drifting down the street. They passed the compound without looking and stopped in a little grove of trees on the outskirts of town.

We hid our provisions to protect them during the raid. We gathered our armor and weapons and manned our positions and waited.

All was silent. Then with a roar, the raiders were upon us. Their armor gave them away as being part of the rogue guild, Champions of Movoda (COM). They stormed the walls with ladders they had brought. The walls were high and steep, and this gave the defenders a slight edge.

Diabloii, one of the top mages, was the first COM over the walls. Masked swung and caused 15 damage. RoyHobbs was waiting as Diabloii spun away and hit for 55. Diabloii spun away again and this Masked finished the job.

Across the way, Cayenne was the first of our guild to fall at the hands of JonCorwin. One of our mages cast 2 spells of shock on Incubusking. It was too much to handle for Incubusking. Our mage looted the body then went looking for more targets.

On the west side, RoyHobbs had corned Krysta the Fox. With one blow, he dispatched the wily fox. He turned and saw Ardent fall at the hands of Bangy. With a roar, he raced to avenge his fallen comrade and was blindsided by an evil mage.

Go Blue regrouped and began to take the attack to the raiders. Within minutes, they had vanquished all but two of the raiders. The raiders gave a mighty fight, but the force of Blue was too much for them. They kept retreating until they were at top of the walls.

Bangy, being the more cowardly of the two, climbed down a ladder and left his friend JonCorwin to fight on his own. JonCorwin held his own for several minutes because the walls were too narrow for an all out rush. He parried attack after attack, displaying the skill that made him one of the top fighters in the land. Finally, realizing all was lost, he climbed down a ladder and ran down the road.

From the top of the walls, the battered guild collected their breath and then shouted in unison, "GO BLUE"

Under cover of darkness, 8 warriors slip into the sleepy town of Rissdra. They scatter quickly, finding places to hide and wait for the perfect opportunity. The dawn breaks, and the city slowly wakens.

Down the street, past the shops is their target, the Universal Masters(UM) compound. The rivalry goes back many years, to other lands. UM has publicly offered their support to any guild that wants to attack Blue or is being attacked by Blue.

Today, they'll get their chance. The gate opens the UM compound comes alive. The 8 warriors stealthily approach. Before UM knows what is going on, the battle is underway.

RoyHobbs is the first into the fight as always. His combat skills are legendary. Charging into battle, UM charges him, determined to neutralize their greatest threat. He parries and thrusts, buying time for the rest of Blue to enter the compound. Valiantly he struggles, but there are just too many UM.

UM's moment of jubilee is shattered when they realize the second wave is upon them. With a fury sent from hell, Blue will show no mercy. Two more Blue warriors will fall before the fight turns. Working as a finely tuned machine, Blue divides and conquers.

Within minutes, the ground is covered with dead UM. Only one UM warrior remains, Thor. He's tired and outnumbered. Valiantly he fights on. Blue is relentless. There will be no quarter.

Retreating, Thor manages to battle on. Finally, he makes a tactical mistake and traps himself. Hemmed in on each side, he battles against the inevitable. Sensing the moment is right, Masked unleashes a shock enchantment, and the last UM warrior is dead.

Victorious once again, Blue leaves the compound. On their way out, Alaric turns and rushes over to UM's newest compound wall. The concrete isn't completely set, and using the tip of his sword, he carves in one word. BLUE.

The messenger burst into our compound, out of breath. "We need.. we need help," he gasps. "Poseidon has called for a counterraid against Roots, can any of your fighters come help us?"

It takes just a moment for 4 warriors to spring into action. Weapons and armor are grabbed. They head out, back in the direction the messenger came. They arrive and rendezvous with the raiders who are scouting out the terrain.

RoyHobbs, Masked, Innocence, and CaraVagi0 volunteer to be the first 4 over the walls. From their vantage point, they can see the compound for ROOTS is in disarray. People are running everywhere, frantic. Nobody is there to provide leadership.

Sensing the moment is right, they creep as close as they can. At the signal from Poseidon, the 4 Blue warriors spring into action. Moving with precision that can only be obtained from hours of practice, they are over the walls and upon the members of ROOTS before they know what is going on.

Innocence, Roy and Masked target Diabloii, the mage with a lethal shock enchantment. Three swings later, and Diabloii is neutralized. The raid is over almost before it begins. The four warriors from Blue kill 7 of the 10 defenders. The raid ends. The warriors take one last look around and head back down the path they came.

Gotcha. I ran around a few weeks back doing the tutorial when I took a break from mining for the guild...actually, that started about the time this dynasty thread started.
