Switching to 3-4....question.

OK, I have 4 stud linebackers, 2 excellent lineman, 1 ok lineman, switching to 3-4 even though I've read everything here and it might not make a big difference.

My question is:

When I switch, do I need to make everyone that new position, such as making my WLB a WILB? OR, can I just give my WLB that position in the depth chart even though he's now playing a WILB?

Essentially, does giving a player a new position give him a worse hit on his ratings than just playing him out of position even if the out of position is close to his normal position?

Thanks.

No one knows the answer to that question. But my view is that if you may at some point want to change back in the near future, I would leave their position designations alone, and just play them out of position. If you're doing it long term then make the switch. Although I always hesitate on a switch that says the guy will lose potential.

Thanks Vin.

I'll give the next game a go with them just at those positions without the position change and see how it goes. I might set up a practice league and run some games with both situations and see what happens. I'd hate to think I'm screwing up my MP games because I'm not doing something right.
