My Computer Keeps Crashing...

And it seems to always do it when I have IE going. It doesn't crash right away. I can start up IE and browse for a bit. But eventually (usually within five to ten minutes of first starting IE), I will hit a link and just get the blue screen of death, with tons of stuff on it, but it all disappears into a restart before I can read one word of it (okay, not true, I did read one word--"information"; yeah, the irony is not lost on me).

I have also noticed when the machine starts, and after it loads up the hard drive and other drive and memory info (the first screen you see before it blinks away to load up Windows), that a line appears at the bottom that reads something like "IDE Channel 0 Conductor Cable not connected", which, of course, sounds like a crack the case issue.

So before I tear off to remove and reinsert all IDE cables in my case, do any of you have any advice about it or about the IE crash issue? And how does an IDE cable just come undone. It's not like my computer moves around or nothing.

I am currently up in Safe mode and running a massive virus scan, in case that may be an issue. But I don't think it is.

Thoughts anyone?
