Anyone heard of these games before?
I'm thinking in particular of USM2? Though some of the others look interesting as well.

Each one on the list is probably good for an hours' play or so. If you're looking for an easier alternative to the SI games, just track down one of the cheap (maybe even free for some editions if I recall) old versions of Championship Manager.

USM2 was the first "soccer management sim" I ever played. Much more simplistic than FM. Fun in its own way for the time, but I can't see myself ever touching it once I discovered FM. But it was a good "easy introduction" to the genre

Wow, when I first saw mention of "USM2" in this thread, I thought it was about Ultimate Soccer Manager 2, a game that was released around 1996 or so. I see that this company makes Universal Soccer Manager 2, though, which is a game I've never heard of.

My first soccer sim was one-nil. I still have never had as much fun playing a soccer game as I did that one. I've never played the SI game simply because it looks to be almost too much.

This may be the most perplexing thing I've ever read. Run DONT WALK to the nearest store and pick up Football Manager. Do it NOW. |

Should I wait until the new version? Isn't it out in December?

it will likely be out in like...november...yes depends on how much gameplaying-time you'll have between now and then. i'd think you could easily get your money's worth out of it in that time, but like I said, depends on how much time you have to play/how fast you get into it. you could wait though. a beta demo will prolly be out sometime within the next...4-6 weeks? |

I'd probably wait. I'm taking my final master's course right this semester along with school starting.
On a sidenote, how are OOTP and the Eastside Hockey game? I think for me, I got turned off of OOTP (2 versions ago?) when I just felt the game was too much and terrible to navigate. I've never gone back to their company because of that experience. |
