AC/DC - Bon Scott or Brian Johnson?

Bon Scott was AC/DC's lead singer until he died in 1980.

Brian Johnson joined them as lead vocals after that.

Both is the only correct answer here.

I'll choose Brian Johnson because Bon Scott probably couldn't tour too extensively anymore.

I choose neither. Both are the biggest obstacle in my way when it comes to being able to listen to AC/DC.

I only know one song by AC/DC, so I'd have to say, the guy who sounds like he swallowed shards of glass while being castrated.

Bon Scott had such a unique voice, very distinctive. But then when he died, I think Johnson sounds a lot like him and it was one of those "how did they find the only person on earth who sounds just like him" kind of moments.

Wow i had no idea they had two singers... I don't know too many AC/DC songs, but there are quite a few that get played regularly... I figured it was all one singer.

Not much difference vocally, but Bon Scott had a bit more of that "unique" range in his voice. Also a lot better showman live than Johnson.

I saw them with Bon when I was 16, incredible live show.

I think the dude from Krokus sounded more like Bon than anyone.

I think more of the songs that get radio play are Brian Johnson. You may not have heard any Bon Scott songs.

Off the top of my head, the Bon Scott songs I've heard on the radio are:
Highway to Hell
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Big Balls

Whole Lotta Rosie (Bon Scott era) is one of their best songs, and has in it probably the best Angus Young guitar solo.

Highway to Hell & Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap are two of my favorite AC/DC songs (DDDDC is probably my favorite followed by Johnson's For Those About To Rock or TNT), but Big Balls is the best example of those three to really differentiate between Bon Scott's unique voice and the more familiar Brian Johnson

Ditto that, incredible live as well. Shot down in flames is another I like from Bon's time. Highway to Hell was a pretty solid Album top to bottom.

Uselss trivia from that album. The song "Night Prowler" got a lot of bad pub because Richard Rameriz (The Night Stalker serial killer in California) claimed it inspired him to commit the murders.

In other news, sharp implements got a lot of bad pub because Jack (the Ripper in London) claimed they inspired him to commit the murders.

AC/DC are the ultimate radio band to me. And when I say "radio band" I mean a band that I enjoy but in no way feel compelled to own their albums. Im about 99% sure I've heard all of their albums at some point in my life (well, at least everything until the 90s), but didn't run out and buy my own copy.

So not an essential artist to me, but one that sounds fantastic when I've had a couple beers. There are some undeniable riffs there.

I feel basically the same way about Van Halen. Enjoyable, but I'm never going to want to listen to an album all the way through.

I have to go with both as well. They have too many good songs with each lead vocalist.
