Inside the Park Baseball
Yup, Inside the Park - the RPG from OOTP. Has anyone played it? Sounds like an interesting, fun idea that might be easier for me to wrap my head around rather than managing a whole organization. Or, it could be a baseball interface clumsily grafted onto a dungeon crawling engine. I'm gonna give the demo a try, but I thought I'd open up the floor for comments

Unless you're talking about a new version, a lot of us here played it briefly. You can probably find a good number of dynasties on it actually. It was fun for a short while but at least for me had very little lasting appeal, I got a couple weeks out of it, which was fine for a $20 game.

It was an awesome idea, but not developed enough. It became boring fast as you had not a lot of things to do besides choosing your training regime or going to a bar to get drunk, the actions during the games were pretty limited too, same about contract negotiation. It would have been great with more options and decissions to take, like sponsors, player agents, personal relationships, etc.
I would love an ITP2, but it's not going to happen at least for a long time if ever. If you want a similar experience, you can play the career mode in "MLB The Show" for Playstation 2 or 3 or if you are into soccer, the great PC Text sim "New Star Soccer" (versions 2 or 3). Also both NCAA08 and Madden08 have similar player career modes. I would love to see a good sports RPG developed one day. I have tons of ideas and even started one myself but never past the ideas and initial programming stages, maybe one day...
