Hold Outs
My MLB is holding out in an online lg and refuses to re-sign with me "due to past injustices".
The injustices are that I franchised him for the 2nd year in a row.(I planned on caving in this year to his extortion, but he won't let me). Now that training camp is over, he wants to sign cheap, but not with me. Nobody in the league is making offers, they are waiting for me to cut him. Do players ever voluntarily end their holdouts? |

Not if there are past injustices. Usually when I "franchise" a player it's because they're UFA and I want them to remain on my team (which usually means they're a solid starter of some sort) and to avoid having to franchise them twice in a row and pissin' them off, I re-negotiate their contracts to multi-year deals so I don't have to franchise them again next year.
That avoids the whole situation all together. Of course, before I figured out that I could do that, I always just kept franchising one really great player over and over so they could never leave "mua ha haaa" no wonder I was having such harsh cap problems. 87/87 RB "franchised" for the 6th time. for 20m in 1 year.....4 years in a row...duh. Anyways. You've lost your MLB...you should go shopping. -Reip

I thought so-just wanted to make sure.
He won't play this year unless I get better offers.... |

If you franchise him again, he still won't "re-sign", you'll get the pop-up that he doesn't want to play for you "due to past injustices" and then he'll hold out again.

Yeah, this is all totally wrong. Do your research before passing this stuff off as fact. A guy holding out with the "past injustices" message may still end his hold-out, even if it is after the season starts. In addition, you can tag him the next year and sometimes he'll even end his hold-out that year too. So, anyway - you very well may get to play the guy this year, but signing an extended contract with him ever again is out of the quesiton.

Yep, I've seen them usually end their holdout right after pre-season ends.

Well, it's never worked for me. (and yes, that was all as far as I know) And there's really no need to be a complete ass about it, thanks, Wade. P.S. Nobody's gonna' "die" because I stated something that wasn't completely correct. -Reip

Also, I believe if you cut him before the superbowl, you have a shot to sign him to a long term contract the next season in the FA market. This may have changed in the newest version however.

To be fair, the way you wrote your post was not written as if it was your opinion and it seemed to be written to be what you believed to be true based upon your experiences. I applaud the fact that you helped someone out, but it wasn't necessarily true. That being said, what wade more posted wasn't harsh at all and I don't see where you can call him a complete ass. Now if you were talking about the Broncos and how he's a donkey fan, then I can understand that. ![]() Last edited by Raiders Army : 09-04-2007 at 08:50 PM. I traded a guy away in IHOF last season after tagging him twice. This season in FA he won't sign with me because of past injustices. Quote:
I'm still confused as to why you think I'm a Broncos fan. I'm not sure if you're getting me confused with TroyF or what..

Ah, a new patch must have closed that loophole up. In my situation, I had a back with an enormous amount of career yards, but I had franchised him 3-4 straight years. The final franchise year he'd obviously lost a step, but I wanted to give him the chance to come back for at least one more year. So I cut him at the end of the year, and he took a cheaper contract to finish out his career the next offseason. |

No you're right. My apologies to Wade. I guess I was just having a bad morning or something. I did belive my origional post to be fact do to my own experience, though, and I didn't believe any "research" was needed. Sorry Wade, and Thanks, Radiers. Oh and as far as him being a Broncos fan, no idea...but my Bears will be playing them this season, we can see if their offense can handle one of the best defenses in the league, while their offense can handle...umm...we'll find out what kind of offense the Bears decide to shell out at that point in the season. ;-)
