Rawk or Not: Linkin Park

(I've tried posting this three times now...and I've actually been made to wait 5 minutes due to troll protection...I suppose I am a troll after all..)

Linkin Park is an interesting band. They are one of a very select few that have survived the nu-metal crash and have continued to sell huge. Checking my local alternative station's playlist (san francisco's KITS Live 105.3), they have THREE songs in the top 25 most played. This is something I haven't seen in quite a while.

They have hit it big with a mix of rap filled verses and bombastic, rough-edged choruses. They have a trademark for finding hooks that people (even non fans) memorize by the end of the first listen.

They do, however, seem to follow the same formula in many songs (and all of their hits), and their style of music will forever link them with dubious acts such as Limp Bizkit.

Does Linkin Park rawk, or do they not?

A resounding "meh" from me. They used to be good for a chuckle due to their terrible lyrics, but they aren't quite as bad in that department any more (as far as I can remember from their current radio hits, at least), thus taking away all their merit points.

I really like Mike Shinoda, but I really hate Linkin Park.

I just heard one of Linkin Park's new songs and boy do I hate it. I like their "old" stuff but this new stuff blows.

I'm gonna say rawk only because of their first 2 albums, if they continue with this new sound, then no.

Bland, corporate arena rock. They are Journey for the hip-hop generation.

I think they are pretty good for the style they do, and sound very polished. But I'm not a big fan of the type of music they make.

I'm sure it tested well with their focus groups though.

A few decent songs here and there, overall I'm not a fan.

Probably needed an option for "occasionally". I think they have their moments but I can't really say they rawk consistently. And as has already been said, this new stuff seems pretty lacking.

Not really sold on them, especially the new version. But I voted Rawk because I love the stuff they did with Jay-Z. Seriously, I don't really like either artist individually but I freaking love the combined stuff.

I haven't heard their latest album yet, but I really like the two I've heard. I know people make fun of their lyrics a lot, but I'll be honest. I don't even pay attention to the stuff their singing. I just think that the music sounded pretty cool. I don't feel prepared to vote in this poll, though, because the band apparently has some new sound that I haven't heard yet.

Didn't think this was a serious poll. Another vote for boy band.

Their older stuff is definitely better, but I like their new album quite a bit.

It's a crime that Rage Against the Machine has really left a legacy of utter shit in it's wake. For such an amazing band, their influence seems to have only helped create a bunch of awful groups.

Liked the two first albums and when i saw them live here in Spain a few years ago, hate this last album as there is little to no metal in it.

They're not that bad. I like to listen to them every now and then.

The cookie-cutter formula works, so you can't blame them for wanting to make money.

I do like Fort Minor (Mike Shinoda's hip hop ensemble), in particular. I don't know. His song "Remember The Name" just stuck with me. I can always visualize sports highlights whenever I hear it.
