that's all nice and cool but if I can't decipher a dang word on the screenies, these mean nothing as far as showing new features and all look like FM2007 with a new skin...

My only hope is that they have USL 1 and 2.

Those leagues will be playable as soon as FOF has custom league sizes.

They have had the USL league playable before. Since it is built into the game, the only issue is getting a license. It is just going to be up to the guys at SI if it is worth spending the money to get the license. My gut feeling is no, but I am hoping for yes.

Bah ... it irritates me that soccer is called football. It doesn't rank to have such an awesome name.

Fine. Soccer is now Football.

Football is now Pointyball or Gridiron. Your choice.

Or how 'bout this ...

American Football is now football.

Soccer is now "Girly game where dudes run around playing with round balls"

Last thing I heard on the SI forums, is that the USL 1 and 2 wasn't added for playable areas this next version. Too bad too, because I really wanted to play the american minor league futbol leagues.

I won't be buying the WWSM version this year, I'm going to special order FM offline somewhere. It's annoying not to be able to play with the various add-ons and stuff people create. Plus, I don't think the data editor will get any better, but...I'd just like to see how the other half lives.

How about we accept that things are caled different names in and outside America? If you came over here and asked for a bag of chips, you'd get a bag of "french fries" - no harm in that is there?

Football is football everywhere in the world and soccer in America.

Looking at the amount of times the ball is touched with the foot in american football, maybe it should be called handball... oh wait... there is already an sport called handball so what about handfootball? anyway soccer is named "futbol" in Spain

Wow... What an utterly unique take on soccer.

I know. Do you think this opinion has come from studying the nuances of the game, being around the atmosphere, and learning its history?

Or do you think he pulled it out of his ass because he is a nickel a dozen type person who probably makes blanket comments about everything in his life he really doesn't understand?

Good points. It is fairly easy to figure out why football is called football in Europe.

But does anyone here have any info on the historical facts why they call "the-sport-that-FOF-simulates" football ? I may have read this explanation somewhere but right now I cannot remember.

And no, I'm not trying to start anything. I'm just asking because I am curious and because of, as Icy over there so elegantly put it, the amount of times the ball is touched with the foot in american football...

Very funny stuff.

Due to your elected wording, I don't believe you think the answer is - or could be - option A.

Why is that funny ? ... I'll betcha a zillion dollars I've studied more about "soccer" than you've studied me. So, really - which of us makes blanket comments about things they aren't knowledgeable about ?

I think this is a very good question. I wonder why they didn't come up with a unique name - or truthfully, if they named it the same as something else ... probably should've chosen rugby.

FWIW .. I apologize to soccer fans if I offended you. I'm not a soccer fan, and was basically saying American football > soccer. Just a little trash talking in favor of my favorite sport. A couple Jagr bombs were probably the root of my poor wording and, in all honesty, I shouldn't have even posted. It really contributed nothing to a thread hyping a new soccer game.

This is a board of smart asses. I was just jibing back. I support your first post, I do not acknowledge your second.

The only apology accepted on this board are from those who were hanging on the nuts of Chris Simms.

It is not a game breaker for me, but I would like it if they were added. I do think the USL is being greedy by trying to get more income by licensing the game. They really have nothing to lose by agreeing to let it be in FM.

Dola, I also remember asking MV if they could add in the leagues but not use any of the real team names, and just let us edit them in the data editor. But that was not in last years version so I am not to optimistic about this year either.
