Unsubstantiated Speculation--Kyle Turley traded for Charles Woodson
First--all I know at this point is that the Saints want to trade away Kyle Turley and are rumored to be one of the teams involved in wanting to trade for Charles Woodson. Add in the fact that Kyle wants to play on the West Coast (and fits with the Raider attitude) and I can throw this trade out for speculation.
Having watched Turley play last season, I was not nearly as impressed with him as I was over the last couple of seasons. He was a better OT before he became famous. I have not watched Woodson, but from what I gather he is a pretty good CB and the Raiders are wanting to let him go for cap reasons, not because he is not any good. Both positions are really important, so I believe that positional importance is a wash. And I don't know if the Raiders need a tackle. All that said, I think that the trade could make sense for both teams if the teams trade the players and the Saints throw in a 3rd rounder to the Raiders. Does someone with a better sense of the Raiders and Woodson have any more insight into the situation? |

I cannot, in my wildest dreams, imagine any scenario where the Raiders would give up one of the top CBs in the league for an OT with an attitude problem. Especially since they just released their #3 CB, Tory James.

I agree.
That would be a dumb move on the Raiders part.

The Raiders should be content to pay Woodson and Buchanon what it takes so they won't have to worry about CB until 2010. I think they need interior O-Linemen much more than an OT, especially if Barrett Robbins is done in Oakland. There has to be a bigger reason than the cap to consider trading Woodson.

I remember when John Madden was talking about one of the main differences he had while coaching under Al Davis. Madden believed you needed to build around the O-line to win, Davis thought you needed to build around corners.
Don't see Davis changing his mind anytime soon |
