What am I Missing???
I am just getting ready to start the exhibition season for year two of my SP league.
I checked out the Cap/Needs screen and it shows the following three needs for my team: 1. Res-CB 2. Start-Inside LB 3. Res-S During FA I had acquired a MLB with these qualifications and stats from the previous year: 78/78 2 years experience Draft 9th round, 2006 pick 23. 2006 DEFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR 2006 ALL LEAGUE 1st TEAM INSIDE LINEBACKER 1st ALL TIME TACKLES 6th ALL TIME ASSISTS Currently ranks 2nd amongst all his peers in the league at ILB. He "only" has a yellow label in his experience bar. ??? |

He's probably even better than 78/78. You may have quite the stud on your hands.

What do you mean what are you missing? You mean why it's saying you need a starting ILB?
Are you running a 3-4? |

Yes, I am trying to understand why the report says I need a starting ILB.
No I am not using a 3-4...ran a 4-3 all last year and have my misc. player setting for a 4-3 this year. Also trying to understand if the 1st and 3rd priority needs are somewhat valid given the eval of the ILB position weakness. |

Maybe my experience is related -- I run a 4/3 and I've got a 60/60 MLB, yet every year it lists ILB as a need. I know 60 isn't the best, but I think it'll serve. But I don't have anyone behind him. Could the game be looking for the 2nd ILB even when you run a 4/3? Just a thought..
![]() Those are his stats. I did just get to this years draft, and now it does not list ILB as a need. The guy backing him up is a 21/41, so it's probably not at all what I was speculating.. It's a mystery but maybe it's related to whether hes fully developed? Last edited by dbd1963 : 09-27-2007 at 12:19 PM. Reason: vibes |

When evaluating the ILB need, the game doesn't consider whether you are running a 4-3 or a 3-4. It assumes you need two starting quality ILBs, and if you don't, it will show up on your needs or you'll see a really low score on your ILB roster strength.
For example, on my multiplayer team, I carry only one ILB. He's ranked about 8th in the league in overall rating, but the game shows I need both a starting ILB and a backup ILB. On the roster strength screen, my ILB strength is 0 at starter and 0 at backup. If I carried a 2nd ILB, my roster strength at starting ILB rating would go up and my backup remain 0. Unless you run a 3-4, I would say just ignore the "need" at ILB and the roster strength rating at ILB. |

Does the quality / capabilties of the team's scouting staff affect the Cap/Needs team report?

negligibly. I doubt enough to make any noticeable difference from one scout to another.

Ah, I guess that explains why it keeps telling me I need a starting DT in my single player game (I'm running a 3-4 and have one badass NT then a couple of scrubs) |
