OOTP5 Trading

Well, they've certainly made it more difficult to take advantage of the AI. I tried to trade for the #1 prospect and they wouldn't take Giambi and Jeter for him. Now, that might be a bit of an overkill but it's nice that you can't just trade for all the good guys.

Depends on the financial situation of the teams. Their are a number of real-life teams who would want to trade for them both, but at, what, $37 Million between them for the conceivable future, how many teams can afford that?

uh-oh, I feel a vent coming on...

I didn't get a single AI generated trade offer through an entire season, even with people on the trading block. (My team isn't that bad, some nice prospects, good pitching, various salary levels...) Guess I'll have to bump up the trading frequency. Even the Royals get trade offers.

It also kills me that I can't find out who might be interested in my player like in FOF. It's so tedious clicking through all the teams trying different combos. Baseball Mogul's counteroffer was a great feature too, only partially implemented here.

Is anyone else bothered by the negotiating? How many times have you entered the wrong number in too quickly, only to piss the player off and lose any chance to renegotiate? What kind of negotiation is that? I think that whole process needs work, could have much more going for it.

I think the interface needs work. All of those extra reports are helpful, once you find them. A little more organization would be helpful. How about a scouting section for scouting reports, minor league reports, etc? They're all over the place. Plus, if you click on a player hyperlink while in a report, you can't go back - only close the window and recreate the report.

Training recommendations would help a tedious process. Also I couldn't find a way to get the real player's names into a fantasy draft, although I still think I could if I spent another hour on it. Lots and lots of 4 and 5 star pitchers in the draft, very few position players with high ratings - whether that's accurate or not I have no idea, I just know I drafted a lot of pitchers (Scout had Legendary pitching ratings, excellent hitting).

By the end of the night, I was pretty grumpy. So grumpy in fact, I started playing a superior game based on an inferior sport - CM4 Demo.

The trading definitely needs work. I don't mind it being hard to trade, but I have trading set to "high" and I haven't gotten a single trade offer in 2 seasons.

Edit: The counteroffer is really bad as well. The few times the computer has actually been able to come up with a trade offer, the offer was so ridiculous it just made me shake my head. "Sorry computer, I'm not giving you the best starting pitcher in the league for a backup LF."

I haven't played with the trade feature, but I've read about difficulty in trading great players over at .400.

I've always disliked the way contract negotiations work, so much so that I back up my game before free agency or I try to renegotiate with my own players, just in case I screw something up. I just deal with it that way.

A counteroffer like in BBM would be great. That was the best feature of that game, and the rest of the game never caught up to it.

I don't have a problem with the interface, and after getting used to it, I know where to look for what I need. To go back on an HTML report, just right click and hit back, like you would on a web page.

I've seen issues with the game creating too many good pitchers. We'll see if that is tweaked in the patch or not.

Last I heard the patch comes out Wednesday, which will definitely earn another look at the game.

When I put a good player on the trading block - I get an offer the next day.

I don't have a first baseman on my roster, and I've gotten offers for every 3 million dollar 36 year old .230 hitting first baseman in the league for a minor league shortstop.

One thing I have noticed, if multiple teams keep asking for the same prospect - keep him, they pan out (at least the 3 or 4 i've seen.)

To go back from a player .html report to the previously generated in the game.

Right click on the screen, select Back. You should go back to the previous loaded .html file.

That report window is just a .html browser, right clicking should give you most of the same options you get if you right click on your normal web browser.

Hope this helps.
