Peachtree TV?
So, what's up with this? Is TBS called Peachtree TV for everyone now? And why? I still see TBS in the background during baseball games...

I thought I had read somewhere that TBS was changing to Peachtree for peple "local" to them.
I'll have to see if I can dig up where I read that.. /tk

Dola,
From Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WPCH-TV : WPCH-TV, channel 17, is an independent television station in Atlanta, Georgia, owned by the Turner Broadcasting System subsidiary of Time Warner. Known by the on-air branding of Peachtree TV, WPCH-TV has its studios and transmitter located in Atlanta. WPCH-TV can be found on cable channel 7 in most parts of the Atlanta market. This station was known officially as WTBS from August 27, 1979 until October 1, 2007, when its operations were split from the co-owned TBS Superstation. WTBS was the pioneering superstation, and its signal was carried to cable and satellite viewers throughout the United States and Canada. In Canada, most cable and satellite companies carry Peachtree TV instead of TBS. [1] This dated back to prior to the change, when TBS programming was offered to Canadian viewers through WTBS, instead of the nationwide TBS channel that other American viewers received.

Oh weird... I don't see the point, as it's still the same stuff on the channel.

Actually, while there are some similarities, the programming is also considerably different (at least in the US) in a number of ways, including a primetime shift in direction away from syndicated comedies toward movies and the presence of the Braves next season (which will be absent from TBS). Peachtree TV's lineup will seldom cross paths with TBS'. For instance, TBS from 7-9 a.m. on weekdays airs episodes of early 1990s guilty pleasure "Saved by the Bell." Peachtree TV will offer "Mad About You," "The Nanny" and two episodes of "Diff'rent Strokes." Several comedies will show up on both networks at different times, including "The Steve Harvey Show," "King of Queens," "Seinfeld," "Family Guy" and "Friends." A few TBS staples such as "Sex & the City" and "Everybody Loves Raymond" won't make it on Peachtree TV because other local TV stations already have access to them. And TBS has exclusive access to the first two seasons of "The Office." TBS has been emphasizing comedy in recent years and most of the films it airs reflects that mantra. Peachtree TV is opting for a wider variety of flicks and will air one every night at either 8 or 9. During October, Peachtree TV will feature relatively recent films such as "Matrix Reloaded" and "Rush Hour 2." http://www.accessatlanta.com/news/co...001.html?imw=Y

Hmm. Ok, that explains why my Saved by the Bell hasn't been on... I don't want to give Diff'rent Strokes a chance. Earlier this afternoon, Sanford & Son was on too. Never watched this show before, and don't feel like starting now.

Ahh, Wiki answers my question...was wondering if Atlanta got both Peachtree and TBS now (apparently yes).

Yes, we do...PeachtreeTV is now channel 7 (which has always been TBS), and TBS has moved to a different channel depending on your provider.
They are touting PeachtreeTV as more of a "movie" channel, saying they are going to have great movies on every night. I haven't watched it yet, but it seems kind of stupid to me. Everyone knew TBS as channel 7, it was channel 17 before cable took over and has always been channel 7... |

So is Peachtree TV on DirectTV here in Atlanta? Is it what Channel 17 became when TBS moved to 247?

Check the Direct TV website, I'm on Charter, and TBS is now somewhere in the 60's...

Didn't think they'd have the local channels listed, but they do.
WPCH is now channel 17, TBS is now channel 247. |
