NFL week 6 "Desperation Time"

Didn't see a thread for this weekend yet so I thought I'd start it with this:

The Carolina Panthers have Signed Vinny Testaverde to a 1 year contract"

Some teams are grabbing for towels to throw in and they don't care how old those towels may be.

Carry on!

Well if we go 0-5, at least we could then hope to bring in the local boy- Glen Dorsey with our top 5 pick...

Oh the life of a Saints fan

Why not? We compete week in and week out. We have enough injuries to fill a roster. We have a defense that is lucky it can put a linebacker on the field. We have an offensive coordinator who can't game plan his way out of a paper bag until we're already screwed.

Why can't we talk? We got nothing to lose.

Every time I watch Carolina, the only thing I can think is that this is the worst 3-2 team in history. That's probably hyperbole, but really, they could easily be 0-5.

Well, they did pummel the Rams, so I think 1-4 is more likely. But, yeah, the Panthers are seriously blowing this year. Easily the worst 3-2 team in the league. At least they're in the South (man has our division tanked or what?), so there's pretty solid hopes for the playoffs if only because everyone else in the division is about as wretched as we are.

At the Chicago meet-up, Barkeep suggested the 49ers were the worst 3-2 team out there, and I suggested the Lions. There's a lot of room for debate on this one, I guess.

the rampant discrimination towards and lack of respect for the mighty new england patriots continues!

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The NFL has fined New England Patriots linebacker Mike Vrabel $5,000 for an incident late in Sunday's game against the Browns that members of the Browns said was "dirty," according to Boston-area media reports.

The Browns were infuriated when, with 11 seconds left and the Browns running a play to spike the ball dead, Vrabel went low on Browns rookie left tackle Joe Thomas, pushing him into quarterback Derek Anderson.

"You've got to get fined for that," Browns left guard Eric Steinbach said of the play after the game. "If he's going to keep going on like that, maybe he doesn't care about a $5,000 fine. But I wouldn't want that reputation."

Vrabel said Friday on ESPN Radio that he would appeal. Earlier this week, when asked about Steinbach's comments, Vrabel said, "I'm sorry that they feel that way. I don't play that way, and I'm sorry they feel that way. We're going to move on."

You want to talk desperate? In an innocent little article about Qunicy Carter getting busted for pot possession again (hxxp://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3062195), a little sentence at the end floored me:

Quote:
Earlier this year, ESPN.com reported that one NFC team was considering the possibility of signing Carter, but that never materialized.

I mean, how desperate do you have to be to consider signing a guy who was busy flaming out with the minor league Arena league?

Then I thought, what team in the NFC was in desperate need of a QB and also noted that Carter played his college ball at the U. of Georgia...

One thing I noticed recently also, is the utter non-existance of QB talent in the southeast of the NFL.

Moving north you got, Miami, Tampa, Jax, Atlanta, Carolina.

You've got a young, though semingly talented guy in Washinton and a grizzled veteran in baltimore, a busted up vet in Philly....

I mean its kinda Ugly down there from a QB perspective.

Dolphin's already down by 7 three minutes into the game.

In other surprising news: Lance Bass is gay.

Dolphin's first drive:
Sack
Ronnie Brown for 11 yards
Incomplete

Pretty much shows where the talent is on this team.

True, but the Eagles have a few guys back. L.J. Smith does make a difference and they are finally getting the ball to Reggie Brown at least a few more times.

i think the biggest thing is that the eagles WR/TE's are actually holding on to the ball when mcnabb hits them in the hands with it.

Someone sit down and study the Bengals tape and figure out WTF Carson is doing that tips off the DB's. He's thrown balls right into their hands this season and thats not like him.

This is brutal to watch. The Dolphins look like total garbage. The only player doing anything is Ronnie Brown, who on any other team would be a Superstar. 24-3 with a 50 yard Ginn return, brought back by holding. Typical.

At least Miami has the benefit of knowing they have no real talent besides Brown on the team.

I'm watching the Bengals look worse than Miami and this team has shitloads of talent.

There is just no excuse. WTF is the staff doing with these guys?

I'm at work and can only read the play by play, so I have a question:

Are the Dolphins using 11 players on defense?

The Eagles are pissing me off beyond belief.

They keep shooting themselves in the foot, and they've allowed the Jets to run on them at will.

It looks like they're finally starting to stiffen, and get to Pennington.

Also, is any Eagle fan worried that they'll be going into the END ZONE OF DOOM~! in the 4th quarter? Akers was *awful*...and that's an understatement...at that end of the stadium.

Even though they have the lead, I don't like how things are shaping up.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Dolphins figure out a way to give up points during halftime.

It would have been a 96 yard return and a beauty. He isn't nearly as physical as Hester yet, but both have sprinters speed.

The only thing bad about the Dolphins scoring a TD is that now they have to go on defense.

Uhh did somebody replaced Cleo Lemon for a decent QB in the half time? the Dolphins are playing like they have not done for the whole season.
3TD for Lemon so far, 1 passing, 2 rushing.
