remote session playing

Here is my problem......I purchased the game and enjoy it.....I recently bought a laptop which has a wireless connection.....I have been using it outside and around the house and doing remote accesses to my normal computer located in my office. Today, for the first time I connected to my office computer thru the laptop and tried to play this wonderful game. The problem is, the game will not allow remote access!!!
Cmon, isn't this getting a little paranoid?
Is there really a piracy network out there connecting to other peoples computer to play the game by himself?
Are we allowed to install on a 2nd machine?
Thanks

Yes, you can install the game on 2 machines, but no more than that.

What are you using for your remote connection software? Im 99.99% sure FOF isnt whats blocking you from using the game remotely, more likely the remote control server software.

I am doing a simple windows remote access, no special software at all......since all 3 of my machines are connected, I can tap into anyone of them from any machine.
And, when I double clicked FOF icon it specifically said it does not support remote access. I could only assume its some sort of protection for the game?

Does this game work on Vista?
because I just installed it on the laptop and nothing happens when I try to start it

I have a related Vista issue which I hope someone can explain because its related to the issue I had above.........
I did get the game to start by running as admin, no problem.
But, after playing for a few hours and saving the game a couple times including 1 new save (new name), they cannot be found anywhere on the vista system to transfer back into the office computer!
The vista version works fine, I can load up the most recent save but I'll be damned if its on the machine anywhere! I always assumed they are located in the universe dir since that is where I copied and pasted the saves from the office machine to the vista machine. I even did a search for the save name and nothing!
It is quite a mystery since it must be there somewhere otherwise the game would not work.....has anyone ever encountered such a problem?

Oddly enough I was trying to do the same thing the other night. I have it instsalled on my laptop and on my desktop in the basement but I wanted to compare two teams so I thought I'd simply remote into my machine in the basement while sitting with my laptop in front of the TV in the family room. Well, I got the same error you did...booo!!! Easy resolution...install VNC on both your desktop and your laptop...works like a charm.

Do a search for "Vista" in this forum and you'll find all kinds of little tips on running it on Vista. Although I don't currently have a Vista install up and running, I have run FOF just fine in that environment...so, it's very possible with a little tweaking.

IIRC, it's saved somewhere in your profile...i.e. docs and settings

try clickin on a little button on the right side of the toolbar in those folders that says "compatibility files". they may be in there if the button is there.

Thanks but I could not find the button you suggested......I basically give up because these files are hidden somewhere. I even created a new game and saved it and those files were nowhere to be found. On XP, the saves go right to universe and on my vista they go into thin air. I suddenly hate vista, very frustrating

I just created a screen shot of my transaction log and will recreate what I did. Darn it

For anyone else who is a doofus like me, the saved files for vista go into a folder called app data and down about 3 or 4 rungs. My wife showed me
Of course, she was as perplexed as me as to why a search of the exact file name was not showing their location. Mystery solved
