I have aquired 3 spare tickets to the Bills/Bengals game November 4th. Now I have to give first dibs to my family, but if they don't want them I will gladly ofer them up to you folks.

Telle unfortunately has a business trip that weekend, so its just me going atm. I could foresee a get together for the game and finding a bar/pub/restaraunt afterward to knock back a few tall ones.

Interested parties drop me a PM! I'l keep everyone up to date on the distribution of tickets!

Render,
Tickets sound interesting. Too bad I'll be busy that weekend. I would love the chance to see Edwards in person. I you and I arethe only WNY-area residents on the forum. Of course, I think we have a few members north of our border. And Chubby is about three hours down the thruway.

You know.. I always wondered why there were so few of us posting from the area.

This is a great region to live in, people just don't know what they're missing.

It is a great region; we just need to get better politicians in place to turn it around. Of course, I think a bit part of our lack of power in the state is due to NYC.

True That. I say we should cut NYC off from the rest of the state, let it and Long Island form a 51 state and learn to survive on their own resources instead of sucking the rest of the state dry =)

Cool. I'm up for that more than the Bills, especially since I got season tickets for the Sabres now.

I agree. I loved Buffalo went I went to college out there. I actually like Buffalo more than Syracuse but the job market is even worse than Syracuse and at least my family is here.

I won't be able to make it. I'm actually moving in the new week or two (will actually be closer to Rochester than Buffalo now).

No Skillz and Apathetic, if you don't mind me asking, what do you gentlemen do?

Chubby, what school did you attend (if you don't me asking)? Didn't you use to be in Rochester?

I'm a Purple Eagle alum.

I went to Canisius College.

Moved back home to Syracuse after concussions knoched me out of school with post concussion syndrome (played lacrosse in HS and college). Moved to PA to open a new store for the company I worked for at the time. Moved to Rochester to get closer to home. Switched jobs then moved back to Syracuse.

So I'm guessing we shouldn't go to a Canisius-Niagara game together.

I've never been to Syracuse.

Canisius-Niagara I could do.

Bona would be a different story if you went there

We crushed Niagara (my lone DI lacrosse goal was against Niagara) in lacrosse so we never had much a rivalry with them, it was always more Bona.

I almost went to Bona. I know Canisius and Niagara are rivals in the major sports (hockey, basketball, due to being in the MAAC).

I'm semi-retired. Got bored sitting on my stoop in my wife-beater drinking Mad Dog so i went part-time driving a bus. My wife hates me because she's a workaholic and i maybe work 5 hr. The rest of the time I turn my brain to mush playing computer games.Life is glorious.

I have nothing to add except that I love upstate New York. And even though I realize Syracuse isn't the greatest city ever, it has a certain old-school charm.

I've also spent a ton of time in Cooperstown, for many non-baseball related activites. It's a great place to visit in the slower tourist times.

I thought you might work for one of the resorts/hotels in the Falls.

Nah, that would involve something called "real work". And travel. I hate the thought of schlepping somewhere far for work. Did that when I was young. The only travel I do now is Europe every blue moon and once a year to Texas and Arkansas.

I'm in South Buffalo so a trip to the falls is a rare occurance. In my youthful days it was pretty much every weekend for the " Canadian Ballet". Don't do that anymore. The wife drags me up there every so often to the outlets.

Yes, I know, "who the hell are you?"

I'm even more of a lurker than most. I've been in a few very enjoyable MP leagues for the past few years [and post hundreds / thousands of times on those boards] and just thought I'd throw my hat into the "FOF folks from WNY crowd."

I grew up in the 'burbs, went to Canisius High School, then Fredonia State, lived in Jamestown for a while and now live in Olean near the dreaded St. Bonaventure University. So I'm a bit of a Western New York slut.

Just poppin' in to be among the counted . . . .

Don't like Bonaventure?

BTW, I know WNY has a good sized Catholic community, but it seems we have an awful lot of Catholic universities/colleges (Bona, Niagara, Canisius, D'Youville, just to name a few; I think outside of UB and Buffalo State, all the private colleges have are/were Catholic unversities).

I think Bubba will be on his way to deal with you.

On a serious note, I just noticed we seem to have a very high % of Catholic universities for our area.

I had a good experience at Niagara. Good academics, great people and a good environment.

I'm a Purple Eagle alum.

I've worked at a paper/packaging/sanitation supplies company ever since graduating from university in '95 - I went to the University of Western Ontario in London.

It's a family-run company and luckily enough, it's my family that runs it. I'm very fortunate to have a great job in an area with such a high unemployment rate.

The economy here in the Niagara Region isn't much better than Buffalo unfortunately, especially on the industrial/manufacturing side of things. St. Catharines used to be a huge General Motors town but plant closures and layoffs have taken the blue collar identity away from the city. Now we seem to be more of a bedroom community for retirees while Niagara Falls has continued to transform itself into more of a tourist destination with the casinos and whatnot. Our business, as a result, has been forced to enter more into the food service disposables business since industrial packaging isn't needed as much.

I love the Buffalo area and cringe whenever I hear the ridiculous backlash regarding the city. The suburbs especially are beautiful (I always make a point to head to East Aurora a few times a year to play golf) and I love the area around the arena and the waterfront.

I played tennis (well, not an official "game" of tennis, just more practicing and such) for the first time ever (I don't watch or follow the game) this summer up on Grand Island at my friend's house. It was a blast. I just need to develop a serve and work my short height to my advantage.

I'm not sure where I will be next summer. I would like to stay in the area, but I just don't know what my career plans are and if the local area can provide it. Thankfully, I'll have some time to think about it.

No, I really despise Bonaventure; but i got root for their [historically bad] basketball team because -- hey, it's still D-I and I've seen some good players come through.

After 12 years of Catholic education [k-12] I had to get me some public education.

As repressed as the economy is up in "the big city," it is just terrible here in the Southern Tier. I have to say, though, it is really a beautiful place to live.

Only problem with the Southern Tier is that it is kind of far out. Olean's a cool little city, but the nearest big city is Erie, PA, correct? How far is that?

Buffalo is closer, I think, than Erie. Takes us about 1.5 hours to Buffalo and just about 2 hours to get to Erie.

It's been a nice launching pad to go see MLB games in Pittsburgh and Cleveland, for example -- both very nice, manageable road trips from here . . . .
