Boy... RT Johnston has really been a liability in our running game so far this year... 17% blocking.. what the hell happened to him?

He shouldn't be starting. He is aging and needs to be used as a backup. I think we should start Cunningham.

Well, with the injury situation, we might need to make adjustments on the defense... what's out best plan at DE for the rest of this season? (And next season, apparently?)

Man that sucks. It's tough to decide what to do at this point. It doesn't look like he has taken much of a ratings hit, but who knows what they will look like next season. Plus because of the injury and the fact that he is getting up there in age he may just retire in the off season. Ugh. We may want to consider moving Ramsey outside, but I don't think we want to do that until next season. I would hate to move him and then find out Foley will be fine next year. I say we suck it up and start Gabe Blow for the rest of the season and then see how Foley looks in the off season. |

Well, Cunningham played well at LT for the injured Wooldridge. I'd like to put him in at RT after Wooldridge is healed. I think it's time for a change at RT. Johnston just hasn't played well and Cunningham is coming on and needs the playing time.

To be honest I don't pat a whole lot of attention to the offense since I am usually worrying about fixing things with the defense, but looking at the offensive stats so far a few things really jump out at me as interesting.
QB Prtichett is having a very nice season. 70.5% completion percentage and a more than 2:1 TD:Int ratio. Very nice. And man he loves to throw to our RB's. Our RB's have 86 catches between the 4 of them. The rest of the team has 96 combined. And the 3 tail backs are 1-2-3 in Target Percentage on the team.

I'll put in a good word for TE Lamont Dresow, who performed more than adequately filling in for our injured starter Marc Loftis. I like our pair there.

Not much pickins there, though. Best guys are ones we already cut. |

Quik,
I don't think we need to sign anyone. Russell Austin is better than the options out there. I am comfortable with Austin and Greer holding down that side until Gabe comes back.

Not only is Pritchett having one of his best seasons, but The Ox is back on top of the rushing leaders... So yes, I'm very happy with the offense.. We went back to our bread and butter, running and short passes... and it has really paid off...

Woooldridge and Cunningham our now our bookends on the line, I agree with our OLine coach that this is a good move, probably one we should have made sooner..

Wow... I don't know how we pulled out so many wins... The Cunningham injury is really going to kill us.. how do the rules work about cutting him? I know that at one point in FOF you couldn't cut injured players, can you do it in the offseason? Do we want to? He's out for 80+ weeks and will really be sucking down cap costs..
Beyond that, the DLine is just in shambles and somehow has kept up despite that.. Pritchett blew up with that 6 INT game, I don't know what that was all about, but without that he'd have an 18:8 INT ratio, not bad, but still not as good as his first season with us.. definately nothing to scoff at though.. The Ox has been passed up by about 150 yards for the rushing title, but he is clinging to second place.. Ok, simming took longer than normal with all of the injuries, so I'm already late leaving for work..

I'm guessing you are talking about Wooldridge. I don't believe FOF lets you cut injured players, someone can correct me if I'm wrong. We'll just have to carry him on IR if that's the case. Looks like we'll going to need a LT in the off-season. The amazing thing about the 6 INT game was that we still won. That speaks volumes about how well the defense stepped up in that game. We'll have a lot of evaluation to do of injured players in the off-season to see what kind of drops in skill they've had. I don't have access to the game, what's our coaches avoid injury rating anyway? |

We're going to be in a world of hurt next season... injuries and dead contract money are going to cripple our ability to do critical re-signings. We're going to look a lot like the 2002 Ravens... I hope we'll be wearing rings like them, too.

The year after looks pretty bad too. It will be interesting to see how the next couple offseasons turn out. With the injuries we've been experiencing, I'm not sure if we are good enough to win it all this year.

My "Dream Team" DLine has had a rough go of it this year thats for sure. One thing I find pretty amazing is that despite the ravaged DLine the defense is ranked in the top 10 in almost every category. Good times.

Some random thoughts-
After looking at the file, I must say we are definatly hurting in the injury department. I would not be suprised if Foley and Wooldridge retire after this season. That would cause some pretty big cap problems. Which brings up a good question....If those 2 do retire and we begin a 'rebuilding' stage should The Ox be traded? Edit: I just noticed that the Ox is a Fan Favorite, I am not positive on our house rules, but does that mean he can't be traded or cut? Also, what are the offenses plans about the QB situation next season? If we are rebuilding it won't help us any to start the old guy, and we have 2 very good young QBs- I would like to see both given a fair chance to start, but since we picked one in the 1st round it might make more sense to start him. Bakers contract is up after this season, and I noticed he is asking for a pretty big contract- do any of you know why this is? Normally a QB who has taken no snaps will ask for a minimum contract when they are still very young...I hope we do decide to resign him, he could be very good. I think we should move on of our SEs to FL, it seems that the backup SE is not getting very many passes thrown his way, Blaine only has 16 catches and 173 yards this season. Also, regarding the WRs it appears that this will be another season in which we do not have a 1,000 yard reciever, but I think this has more to do with our backs and TEs getting a lot of passes thrown there way, and also we have 3 solid WRs who split up all the passes. Defensivly I am happy with how the team is preforming even with all the injuries. I glad to see that former 1st round pick Irv Boyd is playing very well, I have had horrible luck drafting CBs in the first round in my careers and it is good to see that our guy is turning out to be very good. The group thinks first round picks: WR Kenny McAllister- He is a very good rated player, he caught 900+ yards last season and will probably finish this season close to those same #s, he was a very solid first round pick. CB Irv Boyd- He is also a pretty good rated player, he has been a 2 year starter which is a plesent suprise from a late first round pick, he has 3 INTs this year, has decent #s but I would think he does much better in his next season. QB Otis Coghill- Our first round QB draftie last season, has pretty good ratings, but has yet to take a NFL snap, if we clinch our division pretty early (which it appears we will) should we consider giving him a start to see how he plays in a real NFL game? DT Clifton Ramsey- Our other 1st round pick this season- He has very very good ratings, has put up 28 tackles, and only 2.5 sacks this season, but once he gets older I think he could be a very very good player. Overall we have done incredibly well drafting players in the first few rounds, I think we have had 2 semi-busts in the OLB and Gabe Blow took a ratings hit but he has started quite a few games for us and that is about all you can ask for out of a 2nd round pick. Edit: I was typing this as primelord was posting the games so some of it is irrelivant now... Last edited by Doug5984 : 03-06-2003 at 01:58 PM. |

I didn't realize the OX was a fan favorite. I think we've basically decided not to trade or cut fan favorites unless a more popular player is at the same position (which I don't think would be the case at RB, not sure though).
Interesting posts about the 1st round draft picks. I wouldn't mind seeing how all of our draft picks from the first season have done. If no one else has the time to look it over, I'll try to take a look either tonight or Saturday. |

It looks like we're going to be missing the Ox more as a receiver out of the backfield than a runner. Crawford looks like he is a good runner, but doesn't have the hands that the Ox had. Maybe a slight change in the offensive gameplan would help?

Dola,
Actually Bee Crawford has better receiving numbers than The OX does. Here are their stats. Code:
I don't think we lose much of anything with receiving out of the backfield with Crawford.

We want to go with QB Pritchett in this game right? Even though he is questionable.
