Who Wins This Weekend?: Indy or New England

The point spread yesterday was 4.5 in favor of New England, today it went up to 5.

I'm going out on a limb and say Indy by 1... feel free to post scores.

Indy 27
New England 26

I have a bad feeling about this game. I think Indy comes in with a chip on their shoulder and wins by a touchdown or two.

I have Tom Brady and Randy Moss, so the Pats better win. I also have Kenton Keith, so I'd like Harrison to put a cheap one on Addai too. Thanks!

I think Indy will get this game, but I think Brady will break all of Manning's records when the season ends.

I think New England wins. I'm really looking forward to the game...two great teams, two great quarterbacks. I wish I could get this excited about the Broncos.

I think there's a better chance of the Pats running away with it than the other way around, simply because I believe the Pats' defense is just better overall than the Colts'.

That being said, I'm not even gonna try a score. It could go either way, it could be close, could be a crazy high scoring. Should be a great game.

Or it could be a snoozefest with Brady (Tom) impregnating Manning all game to make a super QB.

No, I think it's getting so much hype that it won't live up to it. But New England should win.

Let's hope you have nothing at all to get excited about regarding the Broncos this Sunday. I wouldn't want that excitement to taint or take away from your New England/Indy excitement. That would be very unfortunate.

Is it really that hard to believe? They have covered every spread this season... and just two days ago covered another ridiculous -16.5 by a extraordinarily ridiculous 45 points.

It's going to be a good game, a lot depends on the guys that were rested by Indy for the Carolina game, what percentage they'll be at for Sunday.

If pressed, I'd say New England by about 3, 31-28 or something similar.

I'd like to pick Indy but I think it's probably NE in a close one. 31-28.

Exactly.

Against a team that supposedly matched up against them in the passing game

The way this Pats team seems to get up for even "trap games" like Washington make me think they'll play even better in a game like this. They're playing with an anger, and this is their most emotional game yet, with their biggest current rival.

I think they win comfortably. But Manning can score points quickly against the Pats defense. It's the kind of game that COULD get out of hand for either team early. It wouldn't be shocking to see the Colts up early by a couple of TDs. But no lead is safe for either team. Should be a great game.

As evidenced by last year's playoff blockbuster. I see NE winning, but would not be surprised if not. I am more looking forward to this game than any non-Broncos regular season game since around the mid-nineties, when Dallas-SF (or even GB against either of those) reg season was always assumed to be for home field advantage in the NFC Championship Game.

I agree with everything stated above.

I just wanted to mention as a fan of team (the Lions) who is often involved in many another team's "trap game", it's really irritating when you're team is the opponent in another team's "trap game".

I remember a few years when the Lions were playing the Cowboys in Dallas. The week before the game Bill Parcells hung up a bunch mouse traps all over the Dallas lockerroom to remind his players of the "trap game" coming up with the lowly Lions. Yes, the team was horrible, but it really felt like a slap in the face. Sadly, the gimmick worked and the Lions lost.

Luckily, the next time the Lions played the Cowboys was the final game of the season last year and the Lions beat Dallas at home and Parcells said something along the lines of it being his most embarassing moment as a head coach or something. That made me smile.

it's an interesting game

ironically the colts are kind of in the NE role of the past. I can totally see them trying to pound the ball on the ground, control the clock and try to keep brady off the field.

or they could just say f-it and try to outscore them. I kind of think the colts will really try and run it a lot.

35-31 Patriots. Two unstopable offenses and 2 very good defenses. Should be great.

I don't think a 17 point win would be shocking either, though. With 2 offenses this exposive, it could get out of hand very easily.

If there is any justice, the Colts win.

I hope the Pats lose a key player during one of their run-up-the-score festivals. Preferably, Tom Brady. Not that I bear him any personal dislike--I just think it is classless to have your first team in when you are up by an insurmountable amount. I want the Pats to pay for their sins.

If the Pats beat the Colts by 50, I could actually live without some key players for a couple of weeks.

That's the risk, of course. If Brady goes down late in a blowout game, Bill will get deserved critisism. But he clearly doesn't want to have his team take it easy, ever. I really think it's a long-term season strategy more than a "fuck you". But it's a strategy that could backfire in a second.

+1... while going for it on fourth down in the fourth quarter while up by 40+ points...

Nothing would surprise me in this game, but I think the Pats will probably win.

I do think the Colts defense has a shot though as they can generate pressure from the front four as well as anyone (they almost never blitz) and are the best team in the league at preventing big pass plays. Not sure how they'll stop Welker though...

Welker? You think Welker is the receiver the Colts have to worry about?

Cover 2 + Welker running underneath routes. He's not the one they have to worry about the most, but the attention given to Moss/Stallworth and where the holes will be means he'll probably have the biggest day.

I'm picking Pats by 3 touchdowns. Part of me hopes it's a good game, the rest wants the Pats to be accused of running up the score against the undefeated Super Bowl Champions in their stadium.
