home field

Is there any evidence to suggest that there is home field advantage in fof2007? I ask because i have my division sewn up, but I doubt i can get a bye.

I don't have anything but anecdotal evidence to offer, but just from my experience (past results) there is a home-court advantage beyond any reasonable doubt.

I seem to recall at some point that this was checked (IHOF, maybe?) and it was found to be in the game for sure.

Ah. IHOF has home/away stats available. Here are the numbers for the home team in the roughly 2 1/2 seasons with FOF2K7:

2013: 144-110-2 (.566)
2014: 142-112-2 (.559)
2015: 56-47-1 (.538)
OVERALL WITH FOF2K7: 342-269-5 (.559)

I think that proves definitively that it's in the game. If you want more detail than this, you can look at all past IHOF seasons here:

I also ran a test a few years back with FOF2004. 56% of games were won by the home team. I see no reason that the engine would be modified for FOF2007. This figure is very similar to the nfl.

There is definitely an issue about being a wildcard team and playing on the road three times, although it can be done

I know in the GEFL we were much happier to have HFA than not.

Cheers Marc, just when I nearly forget you bring back the sick feeling. I had HFA twice and Marc's 49ers did us twice coming through the WC's in the RDFL.

Bump. I just ran Interrogator on a 42-season FOF2K7 career, to put a bit of a larger sample size on the home-field advantage in FOF2K7.

Home team record...

PRESEASON: 1495-1191-3 (.557)
REGULAR SEASON: 5803-4913-36 (.541)
POSTSEASON (NOT CHAMPIONSHIP GAME): 247-172 (.588)
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: 20-22 (.476)

The championship game numbers are too small of a sample to "prove" it, but if one is already inclined to think (like I am) that the "neutral field" championship game was coded properly, then there's nothing in those results that should cause one to think differently.
