The Tournament of Rick: Rnd 1 - SMITS vs MAHORN
From the Sports I Bracket, it's the first round matchup of the NBA big men!
The Matchup: Rik Smits Rik Smits (born August 23, 1966 in Eindhoven, Netherlands) is a Dutch-American retired professional basketball player who spent his entire career with the Indiana Pacers. The 7'4" (2.24 m) center was drafted by the Pacers out of Marist College with the second overall pick in the 1988 NBA Draft. The Dutch-born player was nicknamed "The Dunkin' Dutchman". Earned NBA All-Rookie First Team honors in 1988-89 after averaging 11.7 points and 6.1 rebounds. He was named to the Eastern Conference All-Star team for the first time in his career in 1997-98. Averaged 14.8 ppg and 6.1 rpg over an 867 game career. Collects Roadrunner cartoon memorabilia. Is an accomplished mechanic and collects and rebuilds old cars. VS Rick Mahorn Derrick (Rick) Allen Mahorn (born September 21, 1958 in Hartford, Connecticut) is a former NBA basketball player who, at 6'10", played power forward and center, most notably for the Detroit Pistons. Mahorn played college ball at Hampton University. As dubbed by Piston announcer George Blaha, Mahorn was the "Baddest Bad Boy of them all." Somewhat short for a center, Mahorn had a huge rear-end that he wasn't afraid to plow people over with. He represented the Bad Boys perfectly with his antics both on the court and off with his infamous media handlings. Teamed with superstar Charles Barkley in Philadelphia to form the top-rebounding duo of "Thump N' Bump." Averaged 6.9 ppg and 6.2 rpg over a 1,117 game career. Currently, he serves as a color commentator for Detroit Pistons radio broadcasts, and as an assistant coach under former teammate Bill Laimbeer with the WNBA's Detroit Shock. Voting will be open for two days.
